Depressing film to make me cry? :)

Whether you think cinema died with Hitchcock or only got good once Michael Bay started blowing up helicopters, this is the place where moving pictures are discussed.

    Saving Private Ryan
I don't think the film is sad.

"A great man was sent to save me and he died doing so and I will always remember him" - that is sad.

However, insert a couple of hours of action and fantastic effects and the film just becomes an awesome war movie.

My thoughts based on the whole last survivor thing.

Has to be Seven Pounds. I don't know anyone that has watched this film all the way through without crying.

    Land Before Time
    Up
    Toy Story 3
    Passion of the Christ
    Green Mile
    Auberge Espagnole
Vse umrut a ya ostanus (bleak Russian film about some young haggard girls waiting for their school dance)
Anything else stark and provincial about coming of age usually does the trick for me

Au hasard Balthasar, by Robert Bresson.

If you're an animal lover, you might possibly wail for hours after the film has finished.

Never Let Me Go = probably the most depressing film in cinema history.
