Welcome to the London Metropolitan University forum: where prospective and current students can discuss anything about London Met.

Yes, yes it is that bad.
Especially because of this: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education...-students.html. -
Re: Reasons why I should or should not go to London Met?
It would be a waste of £9000?
i mean seriously, people go to university because its an investment into their futures, so that they get quality jobs but at London Met, employment after 6 months is at 47.7%
+ what are the chances of actually earning enough to pay back student loans -
Re: Reasons why I should or should not go to London Met?Lol I don't think contemplating making a non-drinking area for people who don't drink to chill in is what tips the scale towards London Met being swag(Original post by RocknRap)

Re: Reasons why I should or should not go to London Met?Yes it does! It's just another ploy to kick up some publicity for the uni and attract more customers (conservative muslims in this case). And look up the definition of swag.(Original post by JCC-MGS)

Re: Reasons why I should or should not go to London Met?I would take certain people on here with a pinch of salt unless they back up what they are saying. Some new universities are very good for vocational degrees, it's simply that for academic subjects - the ones which you would traditionally go to university to study - most don't hold a candle to the Russell Group or 1994 Group.(Original post by cottoncandygirl)
It seems that London Met is not a good place to go?? Is it true? It's THAT..bad?
How are they in the design industry? In their Sir John Cass department...For graphic design and stuff...
Warwick is an anomaly. -
Re: Reasons why I should or should not go to London Met?
When I was 16 I went to a London Met open day (then not knowing anything about them) and theycame across really badly.
All they talked about was the number of students they had (we're so big!) and famous people who went there (we're so cool!) And not one mention of quality or achievement. Well, except for bragging about one student becoming a DJ.
Then they had an example seminar, with different Arts subjects being taught by one of their tutors in10 min slots each. One tutor described their subject as a 'girls' subject' (I think it was English or somethng similar) and I remember just leaving thinking how unprofessional the whole day was. -

Re: Reasons why I should or should not go to London Met?Warwick is in the Russell Group. But yes, it is unusual in that it's relatively new but still highly regarded.(Original post by TurboCretin)

An anomaly in the Russell Group? -
Re: Reasons why I should or should not go to London Met?I've heard very bad things generally about it reputation-wise. Did they cut a whole load of courses halfway through some peoples' degrees or was that somewhere else?(Original post by cottoncandygirl)

A few years ago when I had a look (the prospectus was good, and I was interested in living in London back then.
The Aldgate area around it looked quite run down (I live in a fairly run-down bit of Brum myself now, but as someone visiting from a Hampshire village I wasn't used to it). Have a look on Google Street View.
And, of course, if you were in halls/renting even with the London-weighted loan you'd be paying quite a premium to go there without the prestige of some of the other unis in the city. -
Re: Reasons why I should or should not go to London Met?No it wasn't somewhere else. They got a lot of flak for that as it was unheard of. Normally universities run off cancelled courses.(Original post by kingal86)
