Hi all,
I am currently studying in st andrews management, but i have reapplied and got offer from UCL IMB and warwick.
Which one should i go?
I am a bit stuck with choose the course:
I prefer ucl as it's in london, but at the same time the reputation of WBS is globally recognised, thats why im struggling
Please help x! -
Re: UCL IMB vs Warwick managementCan I ask what you got grades-wise (GCSE + A-level)?(Original post by eded123)

My two cents worth - Both are great uni's, comes down to course + location. Both have a top reputation so you won't be stuck career-wise. -
Re: UCL IMB vs Warwick management
sure, as im an international student, i dont have GCSE grades.
My Alevel Grades are AABB with maths, chemistry and physics and further maths respectively.
UCL it's an unconditional offer for me, while warwick offer me AAA with AS B or A2 C or above in other subjects, including economics for AAA. Which means i need to retake economics AS and take A2 exams in the coming summer.
Personally I perfer the location of UCL as it's in london, but for course structure, I prefer Warwick as it's pure management. UCL requires IT bit, programming, java which im worried i will be struggle for that. -
Re: UCL IMB vs Warwick managementNot bad! I'd go for Warwick to be honest...course is better suited + got a good reputation overall. Plus plenty of jobs opps with Warwick(Original post by eded123)

what are u planning to apply? management i would have thought? -
Re: UCL IMB vs Warwick managementIf it helps make your decision, IMB at UCL has a 100% employment rate (or doing further study) and the ITMB course is very good for finding work - as it was designed by employers, it produces students that are taught exactly what industry needs. There are also many oppurtunities to meet potential future employers such as HP and Barclays (only 2 off the top of my head but there are loads more(Original post by eded123)

) Also, the programming is supposedly pretty easy to pickup, I don't think it's very indepth so it shouldn't be too much of a problem but will give you a skill to make you stand out.
I know nothing about Warwick management and may be biased towards UCL because i've personally firmed the course, but still every bit of information helps when making these choices!

Re: UCL IMB vs Warwick managementwhat do you think about IMB vs warwick management? which one is better in ur sense?(Original post by hamEBooks)
UCL
Loughborough
Lancaster
Exeter
- all of which for the ITMB course
Then City which offers a similar course but is only 28 Points (at IB) - a safety option -
Re: UCL IMB vs Warwick managementLooking at the Warwick stats supposedly 95% of students find employment, so while UCL is a bit better in that respect, its not by an overwhelming amount.(Original post by eded123)

Warwick has more students but with UCL in London it's much easier to socialise and there's always something to do, with finding jobs being very easy (my brother who is studying in London has a full time job and 2 part time jobs, with the money hes thriving)
Seeming as I am not currently at a uni, I don't know much more information than this, but honestly the ITMB (or IMB course for UCL) is truly a course that stands out - people always find jobs with it in a variety of different areas; Bankers, programmers, managers, Anything!
To be frank, I would really recommend UCL, because of the IMB course and that it's Lonon, there are so many oppurtunities there to make money and keep you entertained but for more information check out Unistats (although IMB is too new to be on there but it can give info on the Unis themselves) and the prospectuses and organise a Uni tour -

Re: UCL IMB vs Warwick managementPersonally i've been doing computer science for IB and love the programming and IT stuff,(Original post by eded123)
Do you prefer programming and the IT stuff?
But even if you don't, it's supposed to be of a fairly basic level with the course but it could give such an edge over other people who have only studied business - we live in a world where every job involves computers, having the skills to use them at a more advanced level will make you stand out. -
Re: UCL IMB vs Warwick managementlol hope so....im worrying after graduate will be in the technoligical part of the company...which i myself not really like the IT stuff...(Original post by hamEBooks)
