Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops IIOr Cold war? Love to see Korea.(Original post by Pranavian)
They need a new war, I think! World war 2 has been done to death (although still epic, I think?) and Modern warfare has been pretty much shot to pieces too! Maybe Vietnam or Korea or even Falklands should be next?Last edited by xxm; 30-04-2012 at 22:33. -
Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops III was thinking this too, but Black Ops did kinda touch on this.. But yes, some elements of that, too(Original post by xxm)
Or Cold war?

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops III agree though new COD games seem to be almost an update. They just don't feel like a new game anymore.(Original post by Pranavian)

Or Cold war? Love to see Korea.
Yeah Korea would be pretty cool, its an often overlooked conflict -
Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops III think they need either a new war or maybe a war from another perspective.(Original post by Pranavian)

I liked how in earlier CoD games you had the chance to play as the Russians, British and Americans. Now it is all about America and how great they think they are.
A Falklands game could work though, you could be a soldier, then a gunner on a ship and then bomb the argies in a vulcan

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops IINo, they probably released more games over a longer period that probably has less difference than between any COD game. I've lost count as soon as they started making their games sound like organic isomers.(Original post by abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz)
yea like street fighter, didn't realise they released 5 games in the last 5 years.
learn to read
Plenty of games are overproduced, it's up to gamers to stop buying every game out there and demand more. Rather than those who don't sound bitter at people spending their money on how they wish.
EA release sport titles year upon year when a patch update could do. Don't see the same criticism levelled at them. Even if they have some questionable DLC like PGA did when TPC Sawgrass was DLC only. -

Think it's set in the future

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops II
I'm even more surprised, Activision let Treyarch do a Sci Fi despite continously telling IW no
.
But seriously, Woods is still alive....WHAT? Its odd, looks like it has Jet Fights as well. Its a new direction it seems more directly aimed at BF than ever before. I'm more cautiously optimistic than before, I was anticipating a copy and paste sequel set in the 70's. -

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops II
Well at least they're trying to change the format.
"Other key details uncovered by CVG's 20 minute look at the title, include the revelation of a branching storyline, which will will send the plot in different directions based on your choices within the game."
There'll also be a real Real Time Strategy mode, "of sorts" with CVG revealing that: "At any point in time you can switch control between the men on the ground, the drones skulking around the floor, the armed quadrotors in the air or, our personal favourite, a general monitoring the entire battlefield from afar courtesy of cameras high above the site."
This isn't Call of Duty.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops II
Just read this article: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-17920644 (which is why I came here)...
Basic plot that I got from that article is that the enemy have control over all the cool tech and so on, and so you'll be fighting a mix of drones and stuff as well as human enemies...
Doesn't look like my cup of tea to be honest... - the last CoD game I actually liked was probably...MW2....at a push - CoD4 was (and will always be in my view) the best of the newer CoDs
These days the CoDs in my view are either just a repeat of a previous game, or just idiotic in their plot-lines/totally unrealistic. An example in my view which has just got stupid is the Zombies - the first 2 CoD zombies I think were the best ones (with Nacht Der Untoten being the best) purely for it's simplicity. Now we've got astronaught zombies, monkey zombies, things that chase you and steal your guns... come one, it's obviously just pandering to 10 year olds who don't have an attention span past 3 seconds... (which is understandable if they're the biggest consumer, but still I find it irritating).
While I'm sure "everyone" will buy it - and "everyone" will say it's great - CoD just seems to be getting worse in relation to it's competitors in my view. Halo 4 I think might be good (although I don't like the default multi-player armour, as it looks a bit too "anime/japanese style" if that makes sense haha
) http://wn.com/RvB_in_Halo_4__Remember_To_Not_Forget - but still, with Halo I find the campaigns more fun, the multi-player better than CoD (vehicles and bigger maps - probably why I also prefer Battlefield too), and just the fact that it's different, and in my view probably better than the latest CoD Re-hash.
-------------
If I were to say how CoD could do something different - honestly dunno, as they've done modern, ww2, slightly futuristic and so on now - and hell, even post ww2 with a story line which really was odd....
The things I think would be good would be a re-make of Cod4 - like Bungie did recently with Halo CEA - which was basically a graphical update - but also bring back the mutli-player maps and re-master them - leave the game mechanics/multiplayer alone, but maaaybe introduce the Bling perk from MW2, as that was just cool.
Alternatively a more historic war might work, e.g. Napoleonic, but correct me if I'm wrong they've never done that before, and the setting and weapons might not appeal to the CoD crowd.
Other than that I dunno really... sci-fi just doesn't seem right for CoD - I think it should be in the here and now, leaving sci-fi to the games that do that best.Last edited by TheHistoryStudent; 02-05-2012 at 10:18.
