I totally totally agree with you!!!! WJEC is just so vague, one year they may allow one thing and the next they might not! My one friend believes that if you sit a paper again with like no more extra revision you'd get more as it all relies on the mark scheme and whether they're in a picky mood or not.
I have my A2's soon too, BY5 is looking slighty nicer although theres only like 2 past papers?!
Good luck!!It's silly. Silly exam board. Silly mark-schemes. Silly exams.(Original post by XO*)
BY5 looking slightly nicer? You are joking right? The content is so long. Not as complicated as BY4 tho. Respiration and Photosynthesis are mental.
A2 exam suck so much!! They are significantly harder than the AS ones. BY5 sucks bum bum because there is way too much crap on genetics/inheritance ect. They could have used far more varied units for the exam to avoid boring the candidates to DEATH.
BY4 is better because there is a mixture - and more past papers which is always a good thing but agreeably, respiration and photosynthesis are tough because each year the questions in the exam have been so different and look at it at completely different angles. Just learn it inside out, upside down - do past paper questions and it should click. There are usually big marks on these sections so you can't afford to not understand it.
Thank you. Good luck to all sitting these exams, hopefully WJEC will be nice to us! -
Re: WJEC BY1 and BY2 Summer 2012Already did BY4 in January, did better than I expected but not amazing. Jan 2012 paper was typically full of ambiguous unclear microscopic photos as WJEC always are. Everybody in my year admittedly guessed the answers for some of them.(Original post by xcoral23)

Which do you think is harder out of BY4 and BY5?
I personally think you're screwed if you do not have their revision guide, most content seems to be in there. -
Re: WJEC BY1 and BY2 Summer 2012To answer your second question I believe the raw marks required for an A grade will be between 48-50.(Original post by lilyyyy)
What did you guys put for the feature and function of the epithelial cells? (for the digestion q) - I think I wrote about the complete wrong thing.
Also, how many marks do you reckon for an A?

Re: WJEC BY1 and BY2 Summer 2012I have never seen higher than 53 for an A, so I'm thinking around 45-50 maybe? I hope it's low! I found that paper tricky!(Original post by lilyyyy)

Re: WJEC BY1 and BY2 Summer 2012Thank you. That is most comforting.(Original post by Luppy021)
My teacher who is marking the exam BY2 said the grades are lower than usual, not sure what usual means, but I'm guessing the grade boundaries are lower than normal
