    Lancaster Accounting and Finance
Hello all. I've been accepted into lancaster's accounting and finance course for 2013. I'm seriously considering it and I just want to know how prestigious or recognized this degree is in the world?

How does the starting pay defer from other graduates from other unis? How are the job prospects? Say, in comparison to warwick, bristol etc.
Is it as recognized? Are the graduates highly sought after?

I have to take this into serious considerations as I'm an overseas student and to study in UK would be very expensive for me.

I haven't heard of many accounting students here in the forum and would love to hear from some of them!

Well to be honest it is more about the University name rather then the course. Lancaster is in the top 10 in the UK at the moment. I'm taking Accounting and Finance as one of my minor modules and it is ok if you like that sort of thing. For me I'm going to drop it after this year as I am just not enjoying it, but the course is basically the same at all Uni's. I think you can switch to the Ernest and Young degree in 2nd year or something like that. I'm not sure on the details but I guess you can get internships or after Uni you go straight to E&Y depending on the grades you get.

The Lancaster Management School is one of the best departments in Lancaster and the UK at the moment with only LSE really that is much higher.

All the big 4 accounting firms (Pwc, KPMG, Deloitte, E&Y) regularly come to the uni. If you want to use your degree for finance, for something like banking (especially investment banking) I would go somewhere else for sure. If you want to be an accountant though, definitely go to Lancaster

I went to the A&F talk when I was visiting for Economics and it did impress me, I think iNFL8r has the right idea in saying that for becoming an accountant Lancaster will do you well, but for investment banking you would be better aiming for at least Warwick.
