Well it's nice to have a like minded individual. Perhaps tomorrow I should crack on with some more practice.

(Surprisingly), STEP has being going ok. My newest "line of attack" is to do them in order (although I've done questions here and there). I've done 1994 to 2003 STEP I and 1994 to 1997 STEP II so far. I think I've always managed at least 3 full solutions, it's hard to give a mark though, because there is no mark scheme. I also notice that I get a boost in confidence and work better once I've done a question. Which means in the 3 hours I either finish 6 questions in around 80mins or I'm stuck struggling to push out 3 or 4 full solutions within time.

As I've alluded to, I'm really focusing on going for full solutions. There are a lot of questions I can partially or half answer, but that's not the best idea, so I'm trying to learn to stick with questions once I start them, which I'm getting slightly better at.
    It is indeed. :five:

Yes - I'm going to crack on with things also. It's good to hear that your preparation is going well.

I started STEP prep. not very long ago but I agree that doing them in order and aiming for full solutions is a good idea. It is much more rewarding to produce a full solution than to do part (i) and then give up and move on. I have been only doing questions which I also am fairly confident on producing a full solution. So far I have done some random questions from papers here and there but only for STEP I. I'm not going to start on STEP III until I get fairly good at STEP I and II questions (the latter I have been intimidated of but will have a go at soon).

For me success is really disproportionate - sometimes I can produce a satisfactory solution in 20-30 mins but sometimes it takes me a good hour or two and sometimes either several hours or days or I don't manage to do it. I am getting slightly better at knowing my strengths and weaknesses though, which is good.

It may interest you to know that I find STEP III easier than STEP II. It's like STEP I with further maths stuff.

I found this also, especially for the pure questions.

We could each attempt a paper. STEP I or STEP II, post it and mark it between the three of us? I mean some other time. It's just a suggestion.

Quite a few people I have spoken to also find this... :hmmm: I think STEP II is meant to be conceptually more difficult but STEP III just probably has more breadth as it includes F.Maths. :yep:

I'll be trying all three then.

That would be cool except I'd fail miserably if the pure questions were based on my weaknesses and you two would do excellently as you can actually do the applied section and I'd look like a goon. :teehee:

I'd be fine with that, so long as I have a spare few hours. Maybe we could get a few other yr12s doing it also.

I don't think it should be a competition thing though. It's a good idea mainly because we can discuss questions/ difficulties/ techniques afterwards. It partly depends on how good everyone is who is doing it... If everyone does really well it could descend into a competition

Perhaps it would be a good idea for now to do individual questions for time reasons. Also, then we could have feedback on individual questions sooner instead of waiting a while and then getting all of the feedback at once? Just a suggestion...

Yeh. I think we'll avoid competition. I also agree with ML. I'll talk later as I have a drum lesson now.

I like dogs... As long as they do not bark or try to jump on me or chase me or look menacing or anything like that... So basically I am afraid of most dogs.

If they do any of the above, I'll be running for the hills. :afraid:
You should get a big dog

Then you never have to do PE again
