Re: Current Year 12 Thread Mark VISo far I've narrowed it down to 21, 33 or 39(Original post by Blutooth)
NT challenge of the day, if anyone is interested.
Spoiler:Show
A positive integer is written on each face of a cube. Each vertex is then
assigned the product of the numbers written on the three faces intersecting
the vertex. The sum of the numbers assigned to all the vertices is equal to
1001. Find the sum of the numbers written on the faces of the cube

31 obvs ...

Re: Current Year 12 Thread Mark VI
We have a winner
. Are you also applying for maths?
Nicely done, what with the hypercubes and all :P. I liked the problem because there was a geometric significance behind the numbers: you had to factor out opposite faces.Last edited by Blutooth; 10-08-2012 at 11:21. -
Re: Current Year 12 Thread Mark VI
Oh no, I'm nothing at maths compared to some others my age..
I have to admit - I wrote out the question and then my brother peered over my shoulder, muttered something about prime factors, and said it was 31.
It took me a while to realise there was only one solution because the opposite sides form "pairs"
(I'm trying to explain what silentlife posted). If I hadnt been told the answer i'd have given up sooner.

. That's nice you have a bro to solve problems with.

Re: Current Year 12 Thread Mark VIIt's just that it reminded me of the hypercube thing and it gave me a quick insight in the problem - I don't know how they're strictly related, but my mind thinks really irratically.(Original post by Blutooth)

Yeah neat problem - the connections between vertices and sides are really nice.

Re: Current Year 12 Thread Mark VII have a similar problem with M2 and Physics unit 2.(Original post by berryripple)
I can't stop stressing about chemistry result, argh

Try to take your mind off it if you can. Keeping yourself busy is a very good distraction.

Re: Current Year 12 Thread Mark VII'm flying home on Sunday and get back Monday so hopefully time will pass quickly from then onwards. And then I have Wednesday night to look forward to, whatever it actually is.(Original post by Maths_Lover)

Re: Current Year 12 Thread Mark VIWell, at least you have a good sense of humour.(Original post by wcp100)
How on earth did I miss that. I'd done all the working and everything

Edit: Majorly p***** off about that.
Edit 2: I knew the answer.
Edit 3: When I build a TARDIS I'll go back and correct myself.

AQA.
Desperate for that A. But it's going to be a B. I can feel it in my VEINS!!
I'm sure you did better than you say you did.
I hate AQA science exams!
They're so wordy, have barely any actual scientific questions that have answer that aren't ambiguous, have such high grade boundaries and are difficult to prepare for. What's with all the how science works questions and stupid massive marks question where you describe an experiment.

Re: Current Year 12 Thread Mark VIBecause I'm a rebel

I'm a bit surprised to be honest:
I mistook a poster for a girl, and a troll butted in saying "Yeah that's why he has a male symbol next to his name... *attention, ****head on the loose* (except uncensored, I'm trying to avoid more warning points here). Naturally I was a bit surprised at this, so I replied "you're right there is one on the loose... Who let you out?!
Then I got warned... -

How did you get warning points?! - that's uncharacteristic of you...
