11(x+1)x2+2x2dx \displaystyle \int_1^{\infty} \frac{1}{(x+1)\sqrt{x^2+2x-2}}dx

=11(x+1)(x+1)23dx\displaystyle = \int_1^{\infty} \frac{1}{(x+1)\sqrt{(x+1)^2-3}}dx

=11(x+1)(x+1)2(3)2dx\displaystyle = \int_1^{\infty} \frac{1}{(x+1)\sqrt{(x+1)^2-(\sqrt{3} )^2}}dx

=[33cos1(3x)]1\displaystyle = \left[\frac{\sqrt{3} }{3} \cos ^{-1} \left( \frac{\sqrt{3} }{x} \right) \right]_1^{\infty}

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... :iiam:

I now admit that infinity signs as limits always throw me. :emo:

That looks really interesting! Thank you!

I almost forgot to tell you - the other day in chemistry our teacher was talking about hydrogen bonding and asked if anyone had unruly hair in the morning (because it hydrogen bonds or something).

Everyone on my row turned and looked at me.

NEW THREAD!
Evening all!

Conan
Thank you

How have you been?

Nottingham is a kind of insurance plan for me

I feel the same way about physics at the moment, need to focus on other subjects but physics teachers set loads of work

We've finished all the ISAs and EMPAs of the year. If I have to resit, it'll be with year 12s next year.
Our physics teacher have marked our ISAs but refused to give our marks back

I got into the experience week for physical sciences. Since there is a chance I end up going to Nottingham, £1000 bursary wouldn't go amiss

I went to the Cambridge maths open day yesterday.
In the morning I went to look around Trinity and whilst it was grand and beautiful, it just didn't seem to be my kind of place
This coming week, I have my FP4, D1, Biology and chemistry mock

Its okay
I've been good thanks! I also went to the Cambridge Maths open day, I was at St Johns though. I loved it!
Need to start focusing on revision and stop procrastinating! I've set myself the goal of having all but 2 M1 and D1 papers done by the end of the week - this gives me up until the week commencing 21st May to revise Geology and physics, with some M1/D1 papers that week to refresh just before the exams on 24th.

EDIT: FP4?! You're on AQA! :five: Sadly my college won't let me do FP4 next year unless I self teach :frown: (Same with M3, I'd like to do one of the two to replace D2)

Yeah, I don't think it is either since I could not evaluate it at x=1.

Back to square 1... :sigh: But not now, as I am in the middle of something. I shall have a go tomorrow morning or something.
