How do we know about the effects of matrices. I mean how do we know the det. find the area scale factor?

There's a way to prove that the determinant gives the area scale factor. I'm just trying to remember it... we did it in January... argh.

Take a unit square and transform it by the matrix . Use the matrix to work out the coordinates of the vertices of the image... then do something with the areas... try to show that the scale factor is the determinant, I think...

Oooh - what's capoeira?

It's too big now. It was such a lovely dress as well. It was coral pink and one-shoulder strapped. It had slightly diagonal waves in the fabric and sequined embroidery on the shoulder strap. I adored that dress and it went so well with my black peep toe heels. I'll try and find a picture... I wore it at Christmas... Ah well - I'll just have to get a better evening dress.

Bet he liked it.
