STEP I 1997, Q13. DO ETTT!

Although I like some aspects of number theory, I prefer doing maths when there is actually a situation, because I can envisage it better. I can also check whether or not my answer and workings are logical more easily. I think I'm far better at applied questions than I am at sketching/ predicting graphs. Applied questions also rarely have any creativity, which means I can still do them on my off days. And the actual maths (manipulating algebra, etc.) in applied questions is normally quite easy, in comparison to some of the tricky sequences, etc.

But then, as I said, that's maybe why I'm not applying for maths. Maybe if I was better/ more interested I may give it more thought

Uh oh... sounds like the Stats section to me. :nothing: I only have STEP 2004-2011. :frown:

I like both but for me, pure is just so much more fun. Although, as you say - it is a lot harder to check that your answers are not complete rubbish. I prefer the creative questions - they are much more fun to think about and attempt.

Doesn't matter - work actually gets done. :colone::colone:

My Spanish teacher wasn't here so we had a free and I actually got some work done.

It was boring, but it gives me more free time to revise tonight I guess.

How did the physics go?

Actually, it's too hilarious not to try now.

I am so bad at these types of questions... I should practice them more often.

I don't remember half of S1, so I am not sure how much of a good idea this is. :/ I don't want to do it... Stats is my weakest area. :emo:

Advanced extension award. It used to be available for most subjects until a*s were around. It still is available for maths. It's an extra, harder exam that you can sit.

What was your error?

I assumed that it was too obvious that 4×2k4 \times 2^k was divisible by 8, so I said that it was divisible by 8, without rearranging it to make it 8×2k18\times 2^{k-1} first. Not even a proper mistake.

Once I learn some more F.Maths it will be. I haven't tried any yet. I have looked aat them but I haven't attempted them.

Huzzah! Just done STEP I 2004 Q1. It's probably the most straightforward STEP question I have ever done.

I'll see if I have any interesting questions.
