How many programs do you normally run?
I'm just curious; I look forward to seeing how many programs other people run similtaneously.

My laptop can go a couple of weeks without being turned off if I don't go home for the weekend or have to spend the day in the library, even if it only gets used for a few hours a day =P

I think that you should get off your soapbox sir!

As you can see other people keep their computer or laptop on for long periods of time but it doesn't mean that I was on it all the time.

    @pjanoo

Your screenshot confused me for a while, I thought that I was looking at my own screenshot for a minute.

This is about normal I guess. I tend to close things once I'm not using them though.

I've had my desktop on for almost a few months now.

Definitely does not mean that I have been on there for that long, unless of course I have turned into a zombie as a result of being subjected to suicidal amounts of binary code.

Normally I only have Firefox and Spotify/iTunes open. Unless I'm procrastinating,I have the work I'm supposed to be doing open in the background.

Generally just Chrome as an active program.

Notable non-standard background task: Snagit, PeerBlock, Comodo, RainMeter, MSE, TuneUp...

Most intensive I get will be Chrome/PS or Chrome/VLC at any one time.

I'm usually a minimalist, I just have what I need open. Although I tend to leave programs open longer than I need them on my desktop because that thing isn't going to slow down for nothing, however my laptop is a different story.

Just realised that it says 'esource Monitor' because of the visual style I've got. Ah well.

If I'm working, IE might be open (I use Stay Focusd on Nuclear mode, and I hate IE so I'll only use it for the essential stuff). I'll probably have Excel ready, or Autograph.

At the moment I have a fair amount of clutter going on, usually it's a lot less.

It's a fun game, though my laptop isn't quite up to running it well.

TF2 is almost unplayable for me

A friend of mine who plays it a lot said that they increased the req specs quite a lot when it became really popular. I reckon that'll be why.

Good thing I didn't pay for it though! In fact, I didn't pay for Portal either - got it gifted when another friend bought Portal 2

But why not turn it off when you're asleep?

I turn off my laptop whenever I'm not using it for 30mins or more, by the sounds of it you're wasting alot of electricity.
