ive been re-writing my essays up the past week and then plan to mind map then next week and stuff may 3 a day

was it a total waste of time re-writing my essays and have i just wasted a week, what do you think everyone?
Nope. It's not a waste of time at all.
It's still revision, and still you are learning.
I'd advise you to try and read over a couple of essays a day (maybe 2 or 3), read over them lots, make little notes, try to remember it in chunks, and move on, come back to it and hour or so later. Just keep on and on and on with them. You'll get there eventually.

What does everyone think is going to come up in the paper? And what would people's ideal paper be?

For me my ideal would be -

    CONTROVERSIES
    Environmental vs Genetic factors
    Gender bias

    MEMORY
    Multi-Store Model

    LEVELS OF CONSCIOUSNESS
Either Theories of Sleep or Exogenous/Endogenous thingies.

    ABNORMAL PSYCHOLOGY
    Bias in diagnosis

I think it could be genes vs. environment, it hasn't been that question since Summer 2010 (I don't think!). Also expecting either MSM or Alternatives? But haven't seen that in any of the past papers, and my teacher said that sometimes they have a habit of only focusing on a few questions..so not sure there! I'm doing forensics so I don't know about the third question for you.... but bias in diagnosis hasn't come up since summer 2009 either so hopefully it could be that one! That or Schizophrenia I think ... what do you think?

Yes it's an A but I really want an A* (yes I'm one of those kind of people where whatever I get isnt good enough). I've tried writing and writing but it's not helping! I don't think I learn like that. Have you done the exam before?

That'll take you forever! Why not just keep re-reading through your notes? After all, psychology exams are doing noting more than testing your memory

That's so true. I cant take it in if I just read it though. There has to be a method of taking it in. I think i'm in panic mode which isn't helping.

I've made a crib sheet of all the essays and I do mind maps of each on my white board to see how much I remember and mark them to see how much more I need to include in. In my mock I got a B based upon last years grade boundaries so hopefully the boundaries will be just as nice!

I kind of concluded by saying that because psychology is in many ways reductionist - and is seen by many official bodies as a science - we can argue that it does deserve science status, however the extent to which this is desirable, due to the potential negative effects of reductionism, is still up for debate.

I made 2 points in my conclusion:
    1) It has to unified paradigm, therefore it can't be a science.
    2) It can be considered a soft science.

And I just expanded those points.

I went for the term "social science", I'm scared the examiners might be offended by "soft science"

I know but I literally have no other way in which I can revise that is effective reading them over and over again gets me no where unfortunately.

Fair enough nothing wrong with wanting an A* I'm predicted an A* for psych also but this exam's making is so unlikely And no i've not done it before
