Re: Passed driving test but..Hope you weren't too shook up after the crash, what did you not check your blind spot/wing mirrors before changing lanes then?(Original post by sarahthegemini)
Yes really
I panicked at a roundabout and moved lanes without looking and boom
I'm a good driver now though I can assure you lol -
Re: Passed driving test but..I am not after compliments at all, I got enough of them yesterday. Judging by how many posts you have I will take it you're just someone who is on here to start a cyber-argument or just let out a little frustration.(Original post by Theturnbull9)
Stop being a moany ass ****. You passed, I think your just after people saying 'well done', 'ZOMGGG YOU PASSED SERIOUSLYY??' etc. You pass therefore you can legally and safely drive on the road. Minors are called minors for a reason. -
Re: Passed driving test but..
Well done OP

I made lots of minors, I forget how many but it was more that 7. I passed first time over 3 and a half years ago and I have never had an accident
Well... I did reverse into a bin 2 years ago
Scraped my car a bit. Old ladies laughed at me.
The shame

Re: Passed driving test but..congratulations!
i think it comes down to confidence not number of tests.... over confident..cocky = crash... confident or indifferent = ok... no confidence = crash or never drive because to scared to... (one of my friends comes into the never drive category)
i passed my test 4ish years ago... i also passed 1st test and got 7 minors!
people only say those who pass first time are going to crash because they didnt pass first time and they want to make themselves feel better about the fact they FAILED... :P lol
you were good enough to pass first time!
(in 4 years i have never had an accident on the road, the only near misses have been other drivers fault, people pulling out in front of me or too busy talking on the phone in traffic nearly going into the back of me ggrr!... i have i admit had one oopsie! i reversed into my dads landrover, it jumped out!...a corsa isnt much against a series 2 landrover ... his landrover had a bit of my silver paint on it thats all... my car... had a huge chunk bitten out of it
but other than that )
if your really that worried do pass plus?

Re: Passed driving test but..My confidence was shattered (as was my car!) for absolutely ages after, but I got back into the swing of things(Original post by pinda.college)

And nope, I didn't check anything, I literally just pulled out, saw the van, but it was too late to do anything about it

Has anyone here taken the Pass Plus before, what is it like?
I heard you do stuff like motorways and you get a certificate which reduces your insurance aswell. If anyone can shed some light in this area I would greatly appreciate it
That tells you all about the modules. I just passed first time this morning too and my grandad is paying for me to do Pass Plus so I've been looking into it. My instructor says you can do it all in one go (which would be a bit much I think) or 1/2 modules at a time. You don't do a test at the end but apparently you get continuous assessment and once you're up to the required standards on all modules you get the certificate. Apparently it's a bit more expensive than learner lessons, my instructor said about £28/hour (that's for AA).
As for driving alone, I got straight out and did it a few hours after passing! Wasn't for long though, only 10 mins up the dual carriageway to the supermarket! Felt good but weird! -
Re: Passed driving test but..
Seriously very few people pass their test with no faults and very few people who have past their test never make a mistake. Even your most competent drivers (the police, ambulance crew, etc) still make mistakes - it's not the end of the world if you forget to check your rear view mirror when you change gear, yet that's a minor for the purposes of your driving test. It's only when you never look in your mirror that the minor becomes a major problem and that's what you fail for. Clearly your examiner thought you were competent enough otherwise he would never have passed you (unless you bribed him (or her), that is!).
I expect it's a myth about second time passers being better drivers - I have no statistics and I know it's something you hear a lot, but I think that's only because the majority of people pass second time (and everyone likes to think they're the best driver in the world!).
If you don't feel confident about driving on your own, then consider going out with someone in the passenger seat until you're completely confident. Practise (that includes your manoeuvres as well as general driving) and maybe take the Pass Plus course. It's also really important to practise driving in busy/stressful situations as this is something that your driving instructor might well have avoided when you were learning. Only do this when you feel ready, of course, but try driving into a city when it's rush hour, for example. This has to be one of the best tests of driving ability. The same applies to night driving, motorway driving and driving in poor weather.Last edited by Rascacielos; 01-05-2012 at 18:48. -

Calm down pal, no need to be bitter. -
Re: Passed driving test but..Not really sure.. somebody being happy about achieving something perhaps?(Original post by Theturnbull9)
Bitter, in relation to what?..
The way you jumped in with your negativity suggests you're a bitter little bastard. Maybe the whole world owes you a drink..? -
Re: Passed driving test but..I passed third time and still crashed(Original post by pinda.college)
Hello everyone, had my first ever driving test this morning and passed it
However, I got 7 minors in the test and feel as though I needed to have no minors in order to be a safe driver on the road
People who pass the second time say that a person who passes the first time is more likely to crash than someone who fails their first test. This is getting me really paranoid
I am over the moon that I have passed though

Re: Passed driving test but..Thxs for sharing you experience i just passed my test and i will be more carefull, i wana say you have done a good job by sharing your experience.(Original post by sarahthegemini)

Re: Passed driving test but..Thxs very much for sharing, i passed my driving test in 3rd attempt, and now i think i m safe n better driver, i failed my test first time i dont deserve to pass so i was not sad as i dont know many things, the reason why i go for test is i already know how to drive in my country back home. i failed as i didnt go in the middle of the junction when it was green, i waited when traffic from front clear then i move, i failed as i hold traffic back. 2nd time i drive v good again at junction i was following the car in front of me which stall n move as i was watching the car i didnt see the signal changed n examiner brake. but now i understand it.(Original post by Rascacielos)
