    any ideas?
    Hi all

I'm trying get ideas of where i can put info about experience opportunities we have at our rescue (midlands based).
I tried putting it on here however it's against the ad policy in the T's & C's (sorry about that!) so would appreciate any links or sites peeps know of where we can reach aspiring vet meds/ nurses etc.

    All advice greatly appreciated

    Andy

Website, small ads, open days, word of mouth...

It concerns me that you are struggling to fill your voluntary positions and have to resort to predatory behaviour.

That's a bit harsh, isn't it?! Particularly when so many people on here are struggling to find work experience. No need to be so alarmist (and rude).

Most people don't need rabbit rescue experience, or at least not anywhere near as much as a couple of weeks at a vets, a couple of weeks on a dairy farm, a couple of weeks lambing, etc.

I think that it is a bit cheeky spamming desperate vet applicants, overstating the type of experience they could expect to get and calling it "ideal work experience"/"a specialist trainee volunteer position"/etc. Sure there are some great voluntary work experience placements out there however they don't need to advertise or stalk student forums

Actually, I think rabbits are a bit understated. I know it would have been beneficial for me to spend time with people who actually knew and understood rabbits before my course as they are a rarity.

Seem to have lost my post, but I suggested you try contacting the different vet schools. I know the one I'm attending keeps a binder of placements that are willing to have students-separate binders/sections for horses, chickens, cattle, sheep...

Apparently rabbits are the 3rd most popular animal you'll see in first opinion practice according to our Anatomy lecturer. We don't get a lot of teaching so maybe a rabbit rescue would be a good way to back that up, but probably only if you really had an interest in it, which the average vet student probably wouldn't.

Thanks a lot for the replies they were really helpful.
The Universities were really helpful and keen to have students with us and have added our details to the mentioned portfolios which is great!
We've already had applications start arriving.

I'm sorry if it seems strange to some as it's not my intention to be negative - we're trying to get the relevant experience to those that need it as we have a lot of regular poopa scoopa and cuddler positions but this particular opportunity is working with meds and medical studies.
Letting someone who just needs a bunny fix but with no interest in vet care or meds take the position seems a bit of a waste.

Thanks again for your help - much appreciated!

You could contact local secondary schools to find out who the work experience placement company they use is.
