Greek international trains?
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anybody knows for definite whether the OSE international trains to/from Greece are still suspended?
We're going interrailing in July and would love to go travel to Greece from eastern Europe (possibly Sofia) and then ferry across to Italy but don't know if it will be possible.
I've been trying to find out online but can't find anything more recent than February (that's not in Greek!)
Thank you for your help

Re: Greek international trains?Last I heard they still are. I did the ferry from Patras to Venice when I did Interrail in 2010. The ferry allowed us to board as foot passengers for free using our Interrail passes.(Original post by 80243)

It was OK; a nice few days to relax and do nothing, but we didn't get a huge amount of sleep. It's two nights, and you're supposed to remain on deck for most of it. It got fairly chilly and very windy at night to the extent that chairs were being blown about on deck. Not the most comfy night in my life!
If you want to get into Greece, your best bet would be to get a bus. I understand that you can do it for €20-30 from Sofia. I certainly wouldn't recommend making solid plans, though. The funnest part of Interrail for me was not planning a single thing, and just deciding on a whim where to go next.
I'd suggest going through Sofia at some point in your journey, and making enquiries at the station about buses to Thessaloniki. If it doesn't work out, then go somewhere else.
