Re: My future is in the hands of incompetent essay markers.Did you have your remarks after you got your gcse results. I want some remarks and i'm wondering when to do them.(Original post by AishaTara)
I definitely agree here, I three remarks which went up by about 5 -9 marks each - marks not UMS :O UMS it was much more! Many friends of mine didn't get remarks and really regret it; it makes me think you have to pay to get your true grade nowadays, due to all the miss marking and I've lost alot of faith in the exam boards atm. Probably all of it actually, give and take half the practicals people can cheat on ( defeating the point of an exam in all fairness) -
Re: My future is in the hands of incompetent essay markers.yeah i got my in summer after gcse results - if anyone tries to stop you argue your case, even if they try to convince you it wont go up. My school did that and I fully dont regret being a pain in the neck, at worse you'll lose abit of money.(Original post by Dominic101)

Re: My future is in the hands of incompetent essay markers.
The marking of CCEA English Literature papers is a complete joke. The examiners have a scant mark scheme with only a few points already listed, after that it's up to them to decide whether what a candidate has written is worthy of credit. Last year my GCSE paper remark went up by 9 marks.

Agreed, Day; especially for Psychology, christ. -
Re: My future is in the hands of incompetent essay markers.I would point out that teachers often under-mark to make you push harder..but i'm worried about the summer too, A* is just so difficult to be sure on :/(Original post by Miracle Day)
We've all seen the threads on TSR, people getting remarks and marks dropping or rising as much as 10 ums!
I'm sick of subjective essay markers. I have two Psychology teachers, who both externally mark exam papers for Psychology. I did a mock for both teachers and with WJEC Psychology we know exactly what questions appear but they alternate so we don't know what questions actually Case Study will appear.
I answered the same exam papers, with both teachers, except for different case studies and after getting my results back one I scraped a B, and one I got an A*. This isn't the first time, I've copied answers from the WJEC book which was set for homework, which was marked 12/12 by examiners and I've given to the teachers to mark and have gotten as low as 7/12! I feel sorry for whoever the one teacher marks, because they could get much lower than they deserve.
I have four essay subjects. And my University places will be in the balance of subjective markers.
Waiting for results day will be very scary.

And example of this farce is that for a speaking and listening task which counted towards gcse my teacher gave me a mark before I had even spoken. Her bias when give the top 2 students good marks for mediocre work to ensure their A*s is far to obvious.
