Re: Plant science - SHEFFIELD or NOTTINGHAM???
Which five did you apply to? I liked Manchester, but the offers too high really, and Aberystwyth and east anglia felt too far away! Sheffield seems to have a good reputation for plant and animal sciences and i like the city and uni accomodation. And when i went to the Nottingham open day it seemed really nice, and they help you find employment experience apparently, so i was thinking maybe Nottingham but i didnt like how the campus was so far away from the main campus, and felt so empty! so i dont know which to choose :/
Do you have any idea, which you may choose? -

Hi
I study Plant Science at Nottingham and am currently completing my final year.
It is a great course with a really good reputation as well as great contacts to related institutes and businesses.
As there is quite a lot of choice in terms of modules it is easy to tailor your degree to the areas which you find more interesting.
Downside is that the course has few participants but I imagine this is the case anywhere offering plant science as it is just no longer a popular subject. Upside of this is that you get a lot of attention/help from the lecturers and tutors
Whilst the campus is ~25-30mins from the main campus the bus does go every hour so it not a major issue in my opinion and you will have the option to take some modules which are based on main campus.
I also applied to Sheffield but I think this is the more plant intensive course though I can't be sure of this as I did apply 4 years ago and things may have changed at Sheffield.
Nottingham is a great Uni to be at though both in terms of education and the social side of things, not to mention the attractive campus.
Hope this helps feel free to ask any further questions. -
Re: Plant science - SHEFFIELD or NOTTINGHAM???
I started in Biology so have never lived over at Sutton Bonnington so don't really know the answer to that question, tho I would be surprised if most people went home they all seem pretty close which you wouldnt expect if they're never there. I know that on main campus most people are there at weekends and just go home occasionally.
I think its because its so boring when taught at school?
Currently just applying for jobs at places like Kew and Syngenta hopefully will get something!!

What are you planning on doing next?
