University of Bath: - PGCE 2012-13
Hey, this is a thread for anyone who's confirmed or waiting to hear back from Bath about their PGCE for next year.
I've been accepted for the PGCE middle years science, would be good to get to know some people before the course starts!

Have you got your accomodation sorted for next year? They tell us it's best to wait until we get our placements schools, but that'll probably be in August! I'm just living where I am this year, so hopefully my school is not too far away!

Nah I was in a house but as I wouldnt know for sure I've decided to leave where I am in june then wait till I've found out placement as saves me rent over the summer, plus I might have had to spend 50+ a week on petrol as well depending on where it was which I wouldnt be able to afford. Its insane how far out of bath they can place us

Hi, I'm a mature student applying for Bath Middle Years Science. I wonder if you could tell me a little about the subject knowledge audit and interview?

for the audit all they wanted to know was where your strengths were in science, its just a tick sheet which they use to refer you to touch up on certain parts if you haven't done any since gcse or something.

Interview was fine, started off with brief talk about the course what it entails etc. Then had to give a 3 min presentation type thing about a subject matter of our choice, and how we would teach it to a class.
THen had written task where was a sheet with students work on and we had to pretty much say what they'd done wrong and how we would explain it correctly to pupils.
Interview very relaxed, just talking over what you'd put on application, why you want to teach etc.

To be perfectly honest I have no idea, I'm just finishing my undergrad this year in Bath and I've loved it here, its a great place to live and in my experience the university does try and do the best for you, and I think their pgce department is meant to be really good
