Re: Do you believe in The Pirate Bay? Are you Communist? How so ?(Original post by Moleman1996)
ThePirateBay allows you to download anything. At ideology level, it is communism. At a political level, it is not
And I was insulting the statement about "communist states like full control" -
Re: Do you believe in The Pirate Bay? Are you Communist?can you provide any evidence to counteract that communist states generally prefer full control of what people can access? North Korea has its own internet, with government approved content only, they even pretend that Kim Jong Il invented the hamburger. China, controls what websites its citizens can access etc...(Original post by Molts)

Re: Do you believe in The Pirate Bay? Are you Communist?I'm not sure I follow, my point is that if someone violates a patent or copyright, the integrity of the idea and of the existing products has not been damaged.(Original post by JacobW)
I don't see that your second premise is true. 'Idea' is an ambiguos term, but if we talk about concepts, which I would define (whether you agree with my definition or not is a moot point) as the sets of necessary and sufficient conditions for the correct use of words, whilst they themselves may not be scarce, the understanding of and ability to use them most certainly is--at least until we have some mechanism that can instantly transmit information into everyone's mind simultaneously. -
Re: Do you believe in The Pirate Bay? Are you Communist?
file sharing would be socialism not communism, communism is where everyone is considered equal, socialism is where there is no profit involved.
So yes I'm for it, Capitalism doesn't work as evidenced by the American healthcare system, which costs more per person than the UK system and provides worse care. -
Re: Do you believe in The Pirate Bay? Are you Communist?I think i mention during the thread, that people use to go without, now poor people are able to get things for free, so in that sense people are considered equal.(Original post by Helloworld_95)

communist states
If you would have any proper understanding of leftist thought/theory, what ever you want to call it then you would know that none of these countries are even remotely socialist or communist.(Original post by Moleman1996)

I don't see why everyone is automatically labelling file sharing as socialist or communist. Just because something is provided for free does not throw it into this ideological stance.(Original post by Helloworld_95)

Re: Do you believe in The Pirate Bay? Are you Communist?"Communist Party of China"(Original post by Molts)

"Workers Party of Korea" formed by a merger between the Communist Party and the new Democratic Party.
You should probably try telling Kim Jong Un and the Chinese Premier that, they may not take it too well... -
Re: Do you believe in The Pirate Bay? Are you Communist?Srs?(Original post by muddywaters51)
bands and movie producers should be finding ways to profit off of it which is not too difficult. -
Re: Do you believe in The Pirate Bay? Are you Communist?I once demonstrated that a band like Metallica could have made hundreds of thousands of dollars off of one song. This was a prudent value. It would also be a great way to advertise their music, increase exposure and advertise merchandise and albums.(Original post by prog2djent)
Srs?
Maybe Ill share it with everyone here one day. Metallica are very famous but even bands who average on popularity could have made decent money.
Their music is online for free anyway, they could have earned from this instead of complain -
Re: Do you believe in The Pirate Bay? Are you Communist?
I buy songs and albums and films, etc. from bands/directors/etc. who I feel need the money and who deserve it. I don't see the big moral problem in illegally downloading music from a band that lives a life of luxury, while I live in the lower middle class.
Also, the amount of music/films/etc. available these days, it's impossible to get a decent collection with little money that I have. This makes capitalism ridiculous as it gets bigger and bigger, eventually imploding in on itself.
Not only that, but surely an artist should want their work to be seen, rather than to just earn money off of it. If a band or a director are just making it for the money, then they don't deserve to get more money from me tbh

Re: Do you believe in The Pirate Bay? Are you Communist?Steam is definitely the best example of this.(Original post by Carecup)
Offer a better service than the pirates offer then it won't be a problem.
Example: Spotify, Steam, Netflix etc. -
Re: Do you believe in The Pirate Bay? Are you Communist?Games for all you can eat?(Original post by mikeyd85)
Give me a website that does games, music and films for a monthly sum and an all you can eat policy and I'd be there in an instant.
Considering the average game is 30+ hours of entertainment that seems more than slightly unfair for the publishers and devs. -
Re: Do you believe in The Pirate Bay? Are you Communist?Of course, you'd have a more expensive tier if you wanted to include games, but it'd be a workable system.(Original post by Carecup)
