At 16, i'd have probably bought another guitar or something. Now I realise that the government are expecting me to pull money out of my arse for university (My loan won't even cover accommodation), I'd save it for uni obviously.

I'd save it for uni tbh.

Give me a grand now though.. I'd use about £400 for a holiday, £600 towards a new gaming rig.
I agree that this is wise, but my brother did this. He can now just get loans which he can pay back quite easily when he's earning, which resulted in him not enjoying his child hood as much as he saved and didnt spend money.

Spend a tenner on a whore. The rest I'd save for hopefully lots of travelling in my gap year.
£10 for a whore, what a bargain! Can you point me in the right direction?

Uni fees shouldn't be a problem. You only have to pay it back if you're earning over a certain amount and even then its a percentage. After a certain time period the debt gets scrapped, so you shouldn't have to part with much apart from food etc...

Suppose it depends on personal preference. In my year out I worked full time and managed to save enough to pay for the first two years of uni. Because I've saved most of the money from bursaries/maintanence grants, I'll be able to pay off the 3rd years fees as well. I have a little under £3k in a savings account...blowing it on a new rig and other stuff is quite tempting right now though...

Seriously, save it for uni. Not for fees for undergrad, but for expenses like deposits etc.
Or a starting point for tuition if you want to do a masters.

At that age I would have spent it on a holiday/going somewhere. If I decided to save it for a rainy day it would have got spent slowly on random things like clothes, food etc...

At 16 I got my first job and saved up £550, spent it on a DSLR camera.
