Well at the moment I only go to the cinema and Mcdonald's with friends, which only costs bout £10 lol
At 16 that money would be needed for train ticket to london, then for the gig/party, food, etc...! It would get rather expensive! -

Invest in long term things that you will need whilst studying.
A decent bicycle, if you (like me) realize that you've grown 20cm some new clothes and then store it safely in a bank account (or with somebody who knows what the money is intended for) so that whilst you're studying you can have a few weekends (or weeks) of fun.
Back here in Germany we managed to get a weeks worth of snowboarding for about 180€. So even with spending some money you could still put some to the side to finance some holidays when you can't afford the luxury of working besides your education. -

Re: If you had £1000 and were 16 what would you buy?
I'd buy a small carribean island and populate it with beautiful women who are attracted by my wealth and indoctrinate them (with the world's best hypnotist of course) into thinking that promiscuity is the key to life I would then have multiple babies with each of them and start my own little school for the babies who I would teach to be world leaders/elite sportsmen/genius scientists and then I would retire age 19 and live off their successes with one of the women I indoctrinated in the cotswolds.

Re: If you had £1000 and were 16 what would you buy?You might need the hypnotist to work on you first, to persuade you that you can pick up an island in the sun for £1K.(Original post by see-are)
