Leaving university and reapplying next year- further funding?
Hello,
I am currently at university (as an undergraduate in my first year) and things haven't been easy. I had issues early in the beginnings with student finance and delayed payments. This resulted in my not being able to pay rent to the university and I felt miserable. Eventually this compounded into worry and I lost focus over my studies.
The workload got on top of me, and given I am a very reserved person I find it hard to open up and talk about my problems. This led to social avoidance and reluctance to ask for help from lecturers. I have been to counseling after I just felt I couldn't cope. I felt this was ineffective and so my problems seemed to spiral out of control further after the therapy ended.
To cut the story short, I went to the doctors I am now on anti-depressants and in the midst of leaving university to reassess the situation and sort my head out.
My question is simply this; should I decide to reapply and start a fresh next year, would I still get funding for a full three-year degree course? Or would have to pay for year one? -
Re: Leaving university and reapplying next year- further funding? From what I understand you get four years worth of funding, so you've already had one and you'll get another three for the next three years. At the end you'll have to pay back all four years, the first at 3000 then the next three at 9000. I'm sure they'll be someone that can confirm or refute this but you can call Student Finance to be 100% sure(Original post by royal1990)

With only one year previous study you'll get full funding for the duration of a new course - if it's 3 years, or 5.
SF don't give X amount of years funding - it is given based on a formula which is:
New course length + 1 year - previous HE study
However, having said that, you may have grounds to apply for compelling personal reasons for this last year, which means your +1 year would be "refunded" to you, should you need another year of repeat study in the future.
