I realise things have been rather quiet in the Northumbria University threads.
I'm just very excited by the concept of societies and clubs because my old school never had anything except for MUN and it sounds like an excellent opportunity to meet like-minded people outside of my course.
What societies are you interested - if any - in joining? Are the societies generally well organised (more directed towards current Northumbria students) and are they as fun as they sound?

I'm really very excited about university. I hope I don't annoy people by starting threads like these, it's just that I couldn't find a similar thread. And I just can't wait for september.

I'm just about to finish my first year and while i didn't join any societies this year, i'm thinking about joining the skydiving one next year :O

Im starting a postgraduate course in January and whilst Im only 25 I dont think Ill be joining any clubs this time round...think it may be a bit much in my old age lol.

Although when I did my BA at a different university I joined the rugby team and it was the best time, I found it hard to make friends on my course as they were all alot older so joining a club was a great way to meet more people and it was mega fun.......always had a big group of people to go out with, alway played games etc and ive made friends for life.

I would definitly recomend it. I live in Newcastle and have friends that joined clubs when they were at uni there and theyve all loved them just as much.

I'm the same as this guy - I didn't join any societies in my first year, however I want to join the snow sports one next year!!

I was thinking of the snow sports one too but can't decide between that and skydiving!

We don't currently have a Snooker society, however it's something that you could get involved in and organise!

I have applied online to join the computer and video games society, and the role-playing games society. I was hoping to be able to play some monster Hunter and Magic: The Gathering. Anyone else?
