    Leicester or Sussex? Psychology
Down to last two universities both for psychology with sociology but can't pick!

Leicester: Don't like as a city but love the course modules, accomodation is far away
Sussex: Brighton as a city I love, course modules good, accomodation on campus, higher in league table but isn't as well known as leicester, didn't overall get a friendly feel

    Help!

I applied to both of those universities, and am now going to Sussex (albeit, for a different subject).

In league tables they're really similar - the most recent complete university gude places them 20th and 21st, and both being 1994 group members they're pretty equal. However I would just add, for Sociology and Psychology, Sussex is definately a more established university to study at - it makes the top 10 for both usually.

    Leicester obviously

Don't worry too much about accommodation not being on campus, it's only 10 mins on the bus and in second and third year you'll likely live 10 mins walk away.

As a current Leicester student in Psychology going into my 3rd yr in October...I would highly recommend Leicester uni...I can guarantee you that you will learn to love it.

if you don't prefer the city as much then from the academic aspect it's great. The people you'll meet and lecturers are very friendly. There's a lot of help that you can from GTA's that are doing their postgraduate. There's a buddy system. And the campus is wonderful and most of your time will be on campus rather than in different parts of the city. Accommodation isn't really a problem in first year because sometimes living a little further has it's advantages. And like someone mentioned in 2nd/3rd yr u'll liv in the nearby vicinity mostly 10-15mins walk like the rest of us. The nightlife is great, theres various (good) clubs in town and there's the O2 academy in the SU.......and I know there's a better chance of getting employment right out of uni at Leicester than in Sussex

Sorry for trying to sell the uni...but I think if you keep an open mind you'll love the uni and campus most definitely

What subjects are you doing? If it helps I scraped a C in English Language and scraped a B in Psychology at As, but then at A2 through good coursework and hard work I pushed Psychology up to a comfortable A and pushed English up to a couple of marks below an A
