    Universities that accept HEFCs
I don't know if this has been addressed anywhere else, but is there a comprehensive list of unis that will accept HEFCs as an entry qualification, or a list of those that dont? I'm starting to do research for applying for a 2013 entry next year (on my first year of the hefc, have two modules to go), and some of the ucas listings, not to mention the unis own websites, are effing confusing!

I want to apply for an English degree, either language, literature or both. Any ideas, folks?

yep, give the uni's u wanna go to a ring ans see what they say. u'd have to do this even if u were on an Access course, cos not all uni's specify whether they take access, never mind what grades u need lol

so best bet? draw up a list of uni's u wanna apply to and ring em and ask what their entry criteria is regards HEFCs. am guessing you're in geordie-land, cos when i lived up there and before i moved back home, i was planning to do the HEFC as well, but instead ended up on the Access cos we don't have HEFC down here. they;re the same thing tho, if memory serves. just ring n check.

as far as a comprehensive list goes, nope, so far as i'm aware, there's no such thing an it's all about doin grunt work and ringing round and speakin to admission tutors.

All I can suggest is e-mailing or phoning up the universities that you are wanting to study at, and asking them directly. I'm sure the majority of the Universities do accept them, though. Even the highest ones!

It depends on which course and which university. Sometimes a university will accept them for one course, but not another, which is what i've found. It also depends what subjects you plan to study on the HEFC.

If you are in the Newcastle area, Northumbria, Sunderland and Newcastle have gave offers to people in my class, but we're doing science subjects.

It really is a case of emailing or ringing the university department to ask whether they will accept what you plan to study.

Everyone but myself got onto the English lit degree after the HEFC program at Northumbria and Leeds. I'm doing law so I don't think I count in this haha!

You should take another quick look at the UCAS website. More often that not the Entry Requirements section will show whether it is accepted or not. Scroll down to the Access section (otherwise, CTRL + F - then type access. This usually saves some time) and don't forget to also check the GCSE requirements as well to make sure you also meet their criteria.
