Re: The Standard Grade Chemistry Thread!HCl was correct, because when burned it is a gas. Because my teacher said they used to use a certain plastic in sofas but stopped using it because when burned it gave off HCl; and the people ended up dying from inhaling HCl rather than inhaling smoke or burning.(Original post by nerd434)
It's not a gas though? -
Re: The Standard Grade Chemistry Thread! It is... can you remind me of some of the multiple choice questions i've forgotten most of them(Original post by JackE5)
You know for the multiple choice one, the one that asked which one was a base, I picked the one ending with hydroxide.
Any one know if that is correct?

It is... can you remind me of some of the multiple choice questions i've forgotten most of them
Which fraction is used as plane fuel
which fraction has the longest chain of molecules
Which substance is the base
Which 2 substances would form a precipitation
Which element produces a lilac flame
Which element burns with a pop. -
Re: The Standard Grade Chemistry Thread! Thanks, was there a question in the credit which asked you to compare different experiments and also in the credit which asked you about ferrroxyl indicator?(Original post by JackE5)

Re: The Standard Grade Chemistry Thread!Given that 9/10 people found it hard this year, I doubt that the pass mark will be over 50%.(Original post by JackE5)
I always thought credit pass was 50% but looking at the last 3 years it been 16/30,17/30,17/30.
Anyone suspect what it will be this year?

People that I've talked to say they found it easier this year
This was posted from The Student Room's Android App on my Desire Z
Ignore me... I had this mixed up with the physics thread.
I thought it was fair this year as well.
Sorry about that...

Hey see the question about drawing the line to ph 7 what if you just drew a diagonal line to 7 instead of it going to 7 and then straight? Anyone know?
That was the answer. You don't go from 7 onwards as the pH would stop at 7! -
Re: The Standard Grade Chemistry Thread!Sorry I didn't really explain very well. I know ph7 is correct but would you have to physically show it stayed at ph7 by drawing a straight line at ph7 or would it not really matter as long as you stopped a diagonal line at ph7(Original post by nerd434)

Re: The Standard Grade Chemistry Thread!I'm pretty sure they're correct..(Original post by Airess3)
What are the answers for the type of reactions? I put Hydrolysis, Neutralisation and Displacement. Not neccessarly in that order. But I think they're wrong
