Re: Higher Geography 2012i doubt ITCZ will come up as it came up in 2007 and 2011, maybe the hydrological cycle but what would be the other part to the question do you think?(Original post by Bob23)
Anyone reckon ITCZ , hydrological cycle, will come up? -

Re: Higher Geography 2012Try bull**** your way through glacial deposition stuff. Ain't great!(Original post by JaggySnake95)
Same nothing is going in, unlike when I done the prelim. Atleast Geography is the sort of exam you can almost bull**** your way through. -
Re: Higher Geography 2012hydro cycle never came up last year?(Original post by HigXx)
Hydro Cycle and ITCZ both came up last year... I don't see them pulling a Sand Dune stunt again! -
Re: Higher Geography 2012(Original post by jennieee94)
hydro cycle never came up last year?
Wasn't it like drainage or w.e -
Re: Higher Geography 2012In part (a) you need to refer to the Hydro Cycle do you not?(Original post by jennieee94)

Re: Higher Geography 2012i'm not entirely sure, but i dont think so lol(Original post by HigXx)
In part (a) you need to refer to the Hydro Cycle do you not? -
Re: Higher Geography 2012That's what I thought but in answers it says answer should reflect 4 elements in drainage basin! :s(Original post by HigXx)
In part (a) you need to refer to the Hydro Cycle do you not? -
Re: Higher Geography 2012I did higher last year and I heard of another school who only revised predictions. They were told it would be a soil question and not a sand dune question, but low and behold it was sand dunes for a third year.(Original post by Bob23)
I'm just going over the stuff which is in the predictions. In the exam if I see something which wasn't predicted I'm gonna be shouting. U *******!
Moral of the story - it's better to go over everything, just in case

Re: Higher Geography 2012If you look in the marking scheme, it mentions all the parts of the Hydro Cycle!(Original post by jennieee94)
i'm not entirely sure, but i dont think so lol -
Re: Higher Geography 2012Hydro Cycle and Drainage Basins are basically the same question except you need to mention the hydro is closed and no water leaves and drainage basins are open and water leaves. But overall they are the same.(Original post by HigXx)

Re: Higher Geography 2012Ah thanks! Didn't know that!(Original post by JaggySnake95)

I'm really hoping for a River and it's Valley to come up! -
Re: Higher Geography 2012
Is anybody staying up to revise all night?
The River(Original post by Bob23)
Can't do river and it's valley.. What do u talk about. Also.. Do u reckon there will be factors influencing soil formation?
+The direction it is flowing in and any changes in direction that is has throughout it's course. This can be done by looking at contour lines and any adjoining tributaries.
+The width of the river which can be done by using the scale given on the map.
+Any tributaries that join onto the river.
+Determining the course of the river and backing it up with some evidence.
+The nature of the course. (if it is meandering or straight)
+Special Features such as meanders, oxbow lakes, braiding, waterfalls, levees etc.
The Valley
+Its degree of straightness.
+The depth and steepness of the valley which can be determined by the contours
btw who's got well developed annotated diagrams for river features which I can use. I've got stuff but I can only get like 4 marks from it
