Re: Athiests Vs Muslims at Atheist convention
In all fairness, both groups seemed about as arrogant as each other
EDIT: Don't know why I'm being negged, when the Huffingtonpost have a seperate set of accounts
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/chris-...b_1472360.html
Video footage can be edited. I'm not excusing these Muslims. Like I said, both are arrogant and bigoted, but if you read the huffingtonpost article, it's obvious that both groups are at fault, and before someone says it's a select few people; the leader of the Atheist group wants profiling (something not done since WW2), and the Muslim leader is likely to be an Anjem Choudhry type
Though I suppose it's only Muslims that can be bigoted eh? Or at least that's what the negs seem to implyLast edited by de_monies; 04-05-2012 at 13:31. -
Re: Athiests Vs Muslims at Atheist conventionIn all fairness, one group seemed to be spouting absolute hatred and disgusting comments, and the other, instead of stooping to their level, met them with a few puns that harm no-body.(Original post by de_monies)

Re: Athiests Vs Muslims at Atheist convention
I killed myself laughing at "Where are the women? Where are the women?"
And then the guy at the end! Brilliant.
A bunch of Muslims come to an event organised by atheists, for atheists, crash it. Tell them they're going to burn in hell, that the speakers are going to burn in hell, that Christopher Hitchens is burning in hell.(Original post by de_monies)

A crowd of atheists counteract the hate by singing "Always look on the bright side of life" before commenting on the lack of women and chanting back "Bull****" in reply to chants of "Burn in hell".
Yes, the atheists are the arrogant group.Last edited by Hype en Ecosse; 04-05-2012 at 01:00. -

Re: Athiests Vs Muslims at Atheist convention
Protesting is so pointless, most of the time little comes out of it. You just go aggravating each other with no outcome.
I'd take this video with a pinch of salt, considering its been edited and all to show a one sided appearance.(Original post by Hype en Ecosse)

By any chance do you have a fuller version, one that may not seem edited?Last edited by Perseveranze; 04-05-2012 at 01:24. -
Re: Athiests Vs Muslims at Atheist conventionNot in that video no, but the Huffington Post has a different account of things(Original post by prog2djent)
Fantasticly commiccal, no there is no derogatory slurs throughout. The ZZ top comment chant gets me every time.

(Thanks to Brutal Honesty), so it helps my point that they are both arrogant and bigoted. The last time someone wanted to profile a group of people was in WW2...
It could well be that the people were there for the reasons pointed out in the article, as well as their other stuff
Did you read the article?(Original post by Steevee)
It's great isn't it?
It's funny how you never see a bunch of Atheists turning up and trying to ruin religious gatherings, but you see it the other way round.
We need a Reason Rally UK!
In this video, yes but that's not what's happened before hand. The leader seriously wants profiling of Muslims, just because they are Muslim, and implies that a Muslim has to look a certain way(Original post by prog2djent)

Sorry for trying to maintain a neutral position. I called them both arrogant. If you read the article, it proves my point(Original post by Hype en Ecosse)

Not really. I was just trying to remain neutral. Ironically, it seems that you tried for a "populist praise-seeking comment" yourself by posting that comment, but it's backfired for you(Original post by Retrodiction)

Both groups were bigoted. Just because that video didn't show any thing, it doesn't excuse the leader's behaviour prior to the video and the member's reactions whilst the video was filmed. If you read the article, you'll realise that it has been heavily edited(Original post by Algorithm69)
Good for those atheists. Bigoted morons deserve nothing but ridicule and laughter.Last edited by de_monies; 04-05-2012 at 11:51. -
Re: Athiests Vs Muslims at Atheist conventionFor God sake (ahahahahaha) just admit that what's on the video is the reality. Yeah cause the video was "edited" to make Muslims seem bad. I doubt any insult should deserve the Burn in Hell comeback. Seriously(Original post by Perseveranze)

Re: Athiests Vs Muslims at Atheist conventionWell if you read the Huffingtonpost article, that's definitely what it seems like. See what people were tweeting at the time of the video(Original post by justmyopinions)

"but to my dismay, their hate was mirrored by hundreds of conference attendees, some of whom shouted things like "go back to the middle east, you pedophiles,"tweeting"maybe the Muslim protesters [are] gay so [they] don't have wives? ... A lot are/were camel shaggers," and wearing shirts that said "Too stupid for science? Try religion." Watching the scene unfold, I was reminded of how much work there is to be done in combating prejudice between the religious and the nonreligious."Like I said, both were bigoted and arrogant.

Re: Athiests Vs Muslims at Atheist conventionAm I the only one who sees the difference between those insults and the Burn in hell one? There's a big difference, with the Burning in Hell seeming to be more, erm, hateful. And the homosexual comments, many athiests don't like religion due to its intolerance to homosexuality, so you can see that as sort of a complament. And to be fair, they are in Australia, so a little less Burn in Hell and a little more BBQ.(Original post by de_monies)

Re: Athiests Vs Muslims at Atheist conventionSurely if you don't believe in hell, it is less of an insult? And surely you can then see that both groups of people were being bigoted?(Original post by justmyopinions)

Re: Athiests Vs Muslims at Atheist convention
What do people talk about at atheist conventions? I mean, I'm an atheist. I don't believe in the Loch Ness Monster either, but you don't see many conventions about it.
Seriously?(Original post by Orihime)
What's a ZZ top -
Re: Athiests Vs Muslims at Atheist conventionLess of an insult, yes, but they said it with pure hate and meaning. And yes, but at the end of the day, it was an ATHIEST CONVENTION. So why were Muslims there protesting?(Original post by de_monies)
