    Oxford Brookes Accommodation Thread 2012
Exactly what the Title says. I've seen a few for other Unis but not for OB, so thought I'd create one.

Have you received your letter yet?

    What are your choices?

    Have you heard anything?

    Anything and Everything Accommodation related.

I received my letter on the 3rd May, and sent off my choices that night.
    They are
    1: Clive Booth (ES)
    2: Paul Kent (ES)
    3: Cheney (ES)
    4: Westminster (ES)
    5: Clive Booth (NES)
    6: Warneford Hall (NES)

    Yes

I have no Idea yet.... I'm going to check out the choices at work later (Ironic since I've been waiting for this acc letter for ages so I can apply straight away!)

I heard the awful sound of my alarm clock this morning telling me to get up

In all seriousness though- good thread. Last year at Bournemouth I knew exactly where I wanted to stay- This year I have no idea yet! As long as its en suite and inhabited by cool people, then I'm pretty much set.

Tell me about it. It all looks dead expensive. I wonder if they get away with charging more because its in Oxford?

I did the math at work today, and it looks like most of the grant and maintenance loan will go on acc. I know its Oxford an all, but it could be a little ore reasonable.

I'm the same. Guna have to transfer my full time job and turn it part time. Even with Student Finance, it's a monetary stretch.

Still haven't received my letter yet! But my first choice is definitely Clive Booth en-suite and judging by your choices you pick 6 so then it will be:

    -Cheney
    -Paul Kent
    -Dorset House en-suite
    -Warneford Hall
-Lady Spencer (this is only there because I have to fill the last choice)

My maintenance loan only covers Clive Booth and thats it. Sucks. I live in London at the moment, so probs gunna keep my job but only do it once a month, because I get £10 an hour so don't wanna give that up

    -Nope
    -Maybe
    -Nope

...umm, did they give you an option to actually visit the accommodations, so you can have a look? I wanted to do that, coz I didn't manage to visit the accommodations last year, as I went to check out my subject options instead.

Going in the open day is a bad idea (for me) because my final exams are in the 11th June (clash w/ Classics and English), and I'm wanted to take a visit before the half-term break.

...like I saw the info and images online, but I want to check it in person. Are those the only options you've had for accommodation, or do you have to choose 6. If so, why?

My options are Cheney, Clive Booth, and Lady Spenser so far...

    You have to choose 5.

(I tried to find the link to the web page that said this, but all the accommodation pages have changed seen as it is now possible to apply)

    I just put 6, just to put 6. :/

    There's a choice of about 10.

Unless you specifically want Post Grad/Mature accommodation in which case theirs only a choice of 5.

I heard they put similar age groups together. But who knows?

I don't want to end up being me plus 5 others who all smoke.
Nothing against people who do. But if 5 people are smoking in their rooms . . . . it's guna get into everything. :/

The room mate allocation is random. Sorry. They dont no if you smoke or not however during week 5 you can request to move halls. If before then you want to move rooms then just ask at the hall office. they are normally really cooperative.

Also for those worrying about finance. Crescent halls is the cheapest halls. If you cant afford to live in the other halls then sacrifice location. If you get an expansive hall you have got to hope you can pay your instalments as well as eat and socialise. One of the big drop out reasons is not being able to afford because they dont budget properly.

You are all going to be at least 18 so start managing your money and your accommodation, even if that means sacrificing a few luxury's. Crescent socialise and party as much as the other halls do.

Re: Oxford Brookes Accommodation Thread 2012
My ex-gf is a current student so I've been up to Clive Booth non-Ensuite a few times before, it's really quite decent tbh... Does anyone know when they're going to let us know which accomodation we actually get? I'm on a gap year so I've got an unconditional offer- I don't know if that means I get confirmation earlier or not.

    Anyways, here's my choices:
    1. Clive Booth (Non-ensuite)
    2. Warneford
    3. Clive Booth (Ensuite)
    4. Cheney
    5. Paul Kent (although that's pretty much to fill out the last space)

I really don't want to have to work, just think it'd take a lot of flexibility out of student life... I'm with Wetherspoon atm so I could transfer if I wanted- but I don't know. Might quit Wetherspoon and get a shop job or something with less hours than what I'm doing right now.
