Politics essay writing
Hi there,
I'm going back to take one of my as politics exams this year after having two years out due to illness, and I'm a bit out of touch with essay structure for questions such as:
'to what extent...' - for instance, would I have a paragraph with a point for the question and then a counter point and carry on this way, or would I have 2 paragraphs for, a linking sentence and then 2 paragraphs against?
Any help or other essay tips would be great - I'm only taking unit 1 on edexcel and I'm steering clear of political parties!
Cheers,
Alex -

It's been a while since you posted and nobody's replied yet...maybe you should check out MarkedbyTeachers.com, TSR's sister site. It has the largest library of essays in the UK.
They've got over 181,000+ coursework, essays, homeworks etc.. all written by GCSE, A Level, University and IB students across all topics. You get access either by publishing some of your own work, or paying £4.99 for a month's access. Both ways give you unlimited access to all of the essays.
All their documents are submitted to Turnitin anti-plagiarism software, so it can't be misused, and the site's used by hundreds of thousands of UK teachers and students.
What's more, you can take a look around the site and preview the work absolutely free. Click here to find out more... -
Re: Politics essay writingBoth ways you've said would be absolutely fine. It's probably easier for you to follow your argument if you separate the two though so you start for then against. It's good to provide the counter arguments then explain why they can be disagreed with throughout though(Original post by Alex.D)

With everything, link it back to the question, so eg. if it's a question on power explain how each point you make relates to the question.
In your introduction break down the question and how you're going to interpret it, then in your conclusion answer the question and explain why you've chosen that view point - personal opinion is good!
good luck!
