collective cabinet responsibility; Queen's assent?

very subjective question
Queens assent is the biggy; hell, almost anything to do with the queen is...
ministerial responsibility, possibly separation of the powers?

the office of Prime Minister?
The fact that the prime minister is the head of the majority party, when it could legally be whoever the Queen decides has the best hair-cut?
That a leader of a party resigns after a vote of no confidence.

Separation of powers is a theory mostly considered by montesqueau (sp?) not a convention

Examples of important conventions...

* ministerial responsibility, both individual and collective
* Queen chooses the PM but by convention chooses the leader of the party with the majority in the House of Commons
* Royal Assent to legislation (though this has waned in importance)
* Parliament dissolves every 7 years (since the Septennial Act) but by convention, the PM asks the Queen to dissolve it

Hope that helps

the office of Prime Minister?

Has no legal persona. The Office of Prime Minister is a stranger to the law
