Re: Post songs here which you consider to be 'deep'...Thanks for posting it. I'd completely forgotten about her until you reminded me. I first heard her song 'Sophia' and was hooked from then. Definitely adding her back to my wishlist. Might buy 'Fires' as a post-exam present.(Original post by adieu)
Yeah I think she's really great!

Re: Post songs here which you consider to be 'deep'...Not too keen on Nerina myself, but my mum went to school with her!(Original post by adieu)
Nerina Pallot - History Boys
(My favourite play and also one of my favourite songs!)
This song is possibly one of my favourites, partly because of the deeply profound lyrics, and partly due to seeing Thom ride around in a trolley....

"TOM (The Old Man)" by Lee Hazlewood. He wrote it shortly before he died (and while terminally ill with cancer). I can't find a video to link on here so I'll paste the lyrics instead:
Have you seen the sun?
It still hangs in the sky.
Have you seen the birds?
They still know how to fly.
Have you seen the rivers?
They still float to the rim.
Have you seen the old man?
He knows all about them.
And have you seen the lovers?
They still pray for the dark.
Have you seen the kennels?
They still sleep in the park.
Have you seen the mountains?
They still hug the snow.
And have you seen the old man?
He's ready to go.
And his tongue,
his tounge tastes forever,
and his mind wonders
what forever will bring.
