    BNP wiped out in elections

Is this the beginning of the end for that party? If so, what's causing it?

About bloody time, to be honest.

As much as I resent Labour, I would prefer them to the BNP anyday.

The BNP were mainly a protest party. Yes, they have quite a few members but I'd wager most voters were simply choosing the BNP as an alternative instead of sharing any great ideologies with them.

As UKIP is getting stronger and actually starting to take things other than Europe remotely seriously, and aren't a bunch of hardcore racists so are publicly acceptable to vote for, I'd imagine they are taking a load of the votes the BNP used to get.

What's causing it is that they are racist homophobic nazis, no matter how well they try and cover it up

The BNP say it's due to lack of funding.

I say, it's due to lack of... common sense

UKIP growth which is good cause UKIP are far less racist, but will appeal to similar people.

While UKIP probably did receive votes from former BNP supporters, it wouldn't be wise to say they were the reason the BNP did crap and UKIP did quite well, when you take into consideration ex-BNP members are not allowed to join UKIP and UKIP is just as opposed to them as everyone else who has common sense.

Politically UKIP are the closest to BNP. Their membership rules are irrelevant here as pretty much all employers including the army ban people who are members of the BNP.

I meant it as one of the reasons, not the reason, and you've misunderstood a tiny, but important detail, in what I said. BNP members are really irrelevant in this - I doubt their allegiance has changed. I am talking about the votes the BNP received from non-members (presumably the vast majority) who aren't hardcore supporters of the BNP.

It certainly isn't the reason, but I don't think it's a coincidence that as the BNP fell, UKIP rose.

They were getting desperate and confused from the moment they choose Carlos Cortiglia to run for the London Mayor. The man is from Uruguay.
    What's that about?!

The BNP were a protest vote, now Labour are pretty much a protest vote.

Luckily I'm not, nor will I ever (there is no way I would ever agree to help run the country while the general population is so vitriolic and idiotic) be in a position like her's so I won't have to make U-turns! (I assume she has retracted the comment she made on election night then?)

I guess my post has come across the wrong way though. It definitely isn't the main reason - I just don't see it as a coincidence. Maybe I'm wrong, but when you remove the overt BNP racism from the mix, the supporter base of the two parties isn't hugely different. Many of the BNP voters (not members or even really supporters - just voters) last time round probably didn't agree with the racism slant the BNP put on everything, they just wanted to vote for a perceived "real alternative". UKIP has been maturing as a party and are now a much more viable alternative - without the nasty slant.

But I'm no political analyst so what do I know!

I meant to put "one of the main reasons" not just "the reason".
