not turning up to general studies
My sixth form has put in the entire year for general studies a level.
but none of the universities that I have offers from accept general studies as an a-level
The A2 exams are my last exams in the summer.
I was wondering what the consequences are for skipping them?
If I am disqualified from this exam will it affect my other a levels?
Will this affect my university offers? -
Re: not turning up to general studiesWe have that too, but its general studies or citizenship, most people skip every other lesson. I dont think the college do anything but they could with draw you from exams.(Original post by polotime)

Re: not turning up to general studiesWhat my friends did in their general studies was use the answer booklet to see if they could remember key maths formulas, essays they had planned, other general revision stuff. One of them got a D, so she must have written something at least credit worthy.

BUT
You never know when you are going to need some help/favour from your exams officer (private resits, remark requests, etc)
Don't give them grief and **** them off by simply not turning up. -
Re: not turning up to general studiesExam regulations do not allow you to leave for the first hour (if the exam is an hour or longer).(Original post by somethingbeautiful)
You could go to the exam, write your name and leave the paper blank. Leave the room whenever you're allowed (usually you can't leave for the first and last 15 mins). -
Re: not turning up to general studiesWell while you're there you may as well write something, even if it is a load of ****.(Original post by somethingbeautiful)

Re: not turning up to general studies
Just go to it. It is quite a useless exam so if you really CBA then put minimal effort into the paper, finish it early and use the rest of the answer booklet to revise for your other exams? I spent mine writing an essay plan for a potential English exam and I wrote a letter to my examiner telling him about how the exam was wasting my time considering I had a real exam the next day. I got an E

Re: not turning up to general studiesI wouldn't skip it if I was you. As much as universities say they dont care about it having a U on your results sheet isn't going to look good on your part when your fighting for a place.(Original post by polotime)

Re: not turning up to general studies
I'd say just do it. My universities don't accept General Studies but I'm not going to whinge about having to do the paper, it's still a grade you can put on your CV so whilst a university doesn't accept it an employer might be impressed/put off depending on your grade (highly doubt it, but whatevs)
Which was weird coz I think the paper was about Art
