If EVERY animal in the world turned against us, could we survive?
This was posted on another forum but I wanted to see what the Sheldons of TSR thought.

If every animal in the world, including bugs, tried to wipe out the human race, would we have any chance of survival?

It would be one of the advantages of living in the UK I suppose. There is virtually nothing here that would be able to kill you except for the odd huge dog.

Irish Wolfhounds...now thats a dog I'd not want to try and take on.

But yeah we could survive the threat, but the aftermath would be the problem. The world is over-populated and with the increasing deaths of animals and therefore the long-term decrease in food supplies famine would riddle the planet

    Yes, easily.

Our ability to project force is unmatched. We have weapons that can decimate entire continents. We could fairly easily destroy practically all human life on the planet within a decade if we wished to.

The idea we will be overrun by a swarm of cats or lemurs is bizarre.

first of all, we would lose the see... but win air and land, however we would soon die ourselves as bugs fertilize plants which we need for oxygen so i presume we would eventually suffocate, i give us a months tops as we would probably nuke forest/areas of mass animal population

BTW do you know how many ants there are? and guns are useless against things that small so im more worried about insects than Lions ect

Aren't there something ridiculous like 100 millions ants per human on the planet?

If we bomb entire continents, where would the people go? We can't really transport them using the sea, road or air because the fish would take down any ship, would be impossible to use the roads and the birds would take down anything in the air.

Bugs crawling out of the ground, birds would be impossible to shoot down in the air considering there'd be so many of them scattered all over?

    yes why not?

we have nuclear weapons, guns, etc. Don't forget as well that the biggest creatures in the world live in oceans therefore obviously they can't reach us on land, so their threat is neutralised before we even have to do anything.

No, we would be hopelessly outmatched. If insects actually had the strength of mind to want us dead, then dead we would be. Of course they don't, yet....

I can imagine hundreds of insects killing people but not anything else.

Do the animals get human brain power? If not then I doubt many animals have the mental capacity to even have kill all humans as an objective. If they had the brains they probably could. They could get all the poisionous creatures together and then get other animals to help poison the victims.

    100% animal victory guaranteed.

Think about it. They vastly outnumber us, and have infiltrated every part of our society. If they ever turned on us we would be finished. First of all, there are millions of dogs in households, many of them barely contained killing machines. If they went berserk, they could easily kill at least several million. Birds could easily ground all air traffic by flying into plane engines and helicopter rotors, killing millions more. Then think about the damage that could be done by focused attacks of insect hordes, targeting our crops and causing widespread famine. Furthermore, insects that carry diseases such as ticks and mosquitoes would potentially decimate the population via biological warfare. Same with rats, squirrels, and rabbits that are rampant in urban and suburban areas. These same beasts could also knock out the power grid and our electronic communications and internet by chewing through cables and destroying sensitive components. In rural and isolated areas, large predators such as bears and wolves could overrun the sparse human populace, utilizing a blitzkrieg of bold night time raids. Vast herds of cattle would stampede through our defences, pulverizing anyone who opposed them beneath bloody hooves.

Yep, I think it's fair to say... animals kick ASS!

I saw a fox wondering around campus earlier, I can only presume that the reconnaissance work has began already.

If every other species turned against us then we would be screwed. If it was just animals, I think we could cope, but the birds and especially insects would have us for breakfast, lunch and possibly hors d'oeuvre.

If every single one did? We wouldn't stand a cat's chance in hell, due to sheer weight of numbers.

Well, you could say that their sole purpose would be to kill every human they see. Nothing else would be changed about them.

I laughed so hard at the Hulk scenes at the end. That alone made the movie amazing.
