Thanks again!

hi guys:

Ok so this is part iii. to a question but i'll include all thats needed.

The two tangents intersect at the point D. The the y-coordinate of D.

The tangents are y=8x-4 and y=-2x-(1/4)

Im not particularly sure what to do once i've put them equal to each other:

8x-4 = -2x-(1/4)

If I put them all on one side I get 10x - 3.75 = 0

The answer is y=-1

10x3.75=0    x=0.375 10x - 3.75 = 0 \implies x = 0.375

Now input x=0.375 x= 0.375 , in either y=8x4  or  y=2x14 y=8x-4 \ \ or \ \ y=-2x - \frac14
