True! If you watch the Walking Dead, season 3 will be set within a prison using it as a method of fortification! Safest place probably is a government bunker, not that the mass population know where they are located!

In a zombie apocalypse you kind of have to assume all the people have gone zombie. There would be no power and it's likely you wouldn't get any fuel. If you wanted to go anywhere else in relative safety you'd have to convert your diesel car to vegetable oil and hope no-one bothered stealing that from the supermarkets.

I think getting medical supplies is probably more important than food for the long term, particularly if you're camping out in the wilds.

You would need to learn how to cure meats and pickle vegetables like in the bad old days, salt and vinegar is therefore another thing you might find left over in the supermarket that might be useful.

Most of the stuff is the same as any survivalist stuff, I don't think the zombies themselves are particularly dangerous, unless you live in an area with high population density.

How many zombie movies have you seen where they just set up camp in a supermarket? NONE! That's why I don't think everyone else has the same idea.

My original plan was to head for the Secret Nuclear Bunker that's fairly near by but I now assume it would be pretty packed.


So instead my new plan is to head to an island (perhaps the Isle of Wight) as they're usually full of old people who will make even slower zombies than normal. It's also self contained with a relatively small population so there should be enough supplies to last a while and once I've wiped out the local zombies they're unlikely to be replaced any time soon. Eventually I could open a survivors colony and we could have monthly stress-busting trips across the channel to kill some French zombies

I had a dream about this last night.

I'd just fortify the house with whatever's available and hunker down for 4-6 weeks. That's how long it takes human tissue to become "gooey" and the zombies would fall apart.

I do wonder how the ones in Walking Dead are still going...

My revised plan

-Head to Glencourse barracks take an armoured military car plus guns, ammo and military suits which will last and suit the outdoors and loads of outdoor survival equipment and books telling you how to live of the land.
-Find a boat pack it with supplies and non infected people and a trusty dog lol also 6 quad bikes and petrol to power them plus find as many solar powered stuff as I could such as radios.
-I would then head to the Isle Of Rum off the west coast of Scotland which doesn't have any permanent residents just 22 temporary residents and it is the least densley populated Island in the UK as it's still very big and it's got a Castle/Mansion with a golf course, swimming pool, tennis courts, football pitches on it plus loads of wild deer, highland cattle, feral goats plus Salmon is in the river and loads of sea birds that we could hunt to survive off.

Go to the pharmacy and hole myself up, occupy my time taking the Schedule II drugs like DHC, diazepam, tramadol, codeine, temazepam etc while I figure out how to open the controlled drugs cabinet.

Dilute the fentanyl patches in ethanol to be taken sublingually, mix up dipipanone and cyclizine IV shots to be cycled with diamorphine (heroin) and live out the rest of my days in an opiated stupor.
