    Minecraft for Xbox 360
I for one haven't tried Minecraft that much yet, played on the free pc demo for a bit but that's about it, so I'm pretty much a Minecraft newbie. I'm considering getting it for the xbox when it comes out on the 9th though, as the game seems pretty interesting and I think it'd be fun to try out with a few people. I'd prefer it that way anyway since I normally play my games on the xbox and I'm not much of a pc gamer.

Anyone looking forward to this? And I'd also like to hear people's opinions on the game aswell.

I'm late to the Minecraft scene as well so I'll be picking it up on the 360 too. It looks good for casual/relaxed play and just messing about with friends. It's more expensive on the 360 I think but one of the benefits is that more friends will pick it up there than PC. I hope Microsoft doesn't take too long in updating it.

Updating it? Do you mean so it's constantly in sync with updates on the PC? Because I think it'd be a bit silly for them to release it when it's not even the most up to date version, and then everyone will have to wait for an update pretty much right after release  But you never really know with games these days.

That's exactly what they're doing with this release, unfortunately. At launch, the 360 version will be Minecraft PC from May 2011 (I think). Though it will be tailored towards the 360 with its controls, gameplay and graphics. Notch did promise updates to bring it up to speed but it won't be the most updated version at launch.

    Ok I am slightly disappointed.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-f90f...feature=relmfu
You can watch that from 1:50 to 4:00 to see how much you can explore on the PC version.

    Now compare that to this.

    WHY!?

Because xbox is old, therefore it is to be expected that its memory will be limited.

Well I wasn't being literal with the 'why', it's just a shame that things have to be that way. But there has been suggestions that the map might expand with future updates though...no one's happy with it.

I can't imagine ever ever playing Minecraft on a console. It just seems wrong

Yeah will feel quite wrong and doubt youll be able to use many if any mods. I downloaded CoD (the first one) for Xbox that felt so wrong too. At least there'll be a lot less lag if I play minecraft on Xbox compared to my laptop.

I downloaded the trial for the moment. I was surprised at how much freedom you got in the trial until I realised you could not save the game.

Been playing for quite a while with my bro, I think it's really fun. Can't imagine it being as fun playing on my own though.

Never seen the attraction before, perhaps it's the graphics that put me off? As the demo is free I'll give it a bash this evening and see if it sways me, no harm in trying it

Yeah, the graphics are deliberately bad. It's the gameplay, sort of like the attraction of playing with LEGO bricks when you were a child.

It doesn't require that great of a PC or laptop to play it and where it really comes alive is with user generated mods and textures packs. The Technic pack mod that is free is pretty much another full game.

I've never seen the appeal of it either, but I got MS Points for my birthday and thought I'd give it a go. I've spent the better part of two hours in a game with Ape, digging a (really cool) hole. Very addictive, very intuitive, great game, going by the three hours I've just spent on it.

I played this to death last year on my laptop. Haven't tried it for a good few months so I might go on it for a bit later. Depending on the price I might get it for the Xbox, it's a fun game and good to play with other people. Could be pretty good if a group from here or something plays it? I highly doubt anyone I know in real would get this.
