Re: Minecraft for Xbox 360Downloaded the demo and gave it bash, pleasantly surprised would be my initial reaction. Found it quite fun. No flashy graphics, no distracting story lines, just simple freedom. As you say a bit like LEGO(Original post by Ape Gone Insane)
Yeah, the graphics are deliberately bad. It's the gameplay, sort of like the attraction of playing with LEGO bricks when you were a child.
Will probably get the full version later on today. -
Re: Minecraft for Xbox 360Given that the average consumer probably connects to the internet through a low end desktop or laptop in the £300-£400 range which they purchased pre-made from Tesco, PC world, or Dell that's probably a few years old now. I doubt many are even capable of running the game as basic as it may be to a decent enough standard. Most people aren't willing to spend money upgrading parts just to play games especially if they already own a console.(Original post by Some random guy)
Games like Minecraft are all about the user generated content, why one would buy it for a closed system like the 360 boggles my mind.
Also I imagine most of the fun comes from playing the game with friends and building cooperatively, if all your friends game solely on a console such as the 360 what would be the point in purchasing the PC version? Especially if it means you're going to be playing by yourself most of the time.
Decided to test the PC version earlier on an older laptop purchased in 2007. It runs minecraft at 14fps average, and in high open areas such as hills it drops to 5fps sometimes completely freezing for seconds at a time. I can see why that'd put people off playing the PC version, with a console you just download and play, no need to tweak anything, no need to spend money upgrading anything, it simply works. The convenience of it all tends to sway people.Last edited by fire2burn; 10-05-2012 at 13:48. -
Re: Minecraft for Xbox 360Maybe because people play games for different reasons than you? I've played both the Free PC version and the xbox demo, and haven't decided which on I'll buy when the time comes, but even if I was to buy the PC version, it's not likely that I would get involved in sharing what I create, or modding and whatever, so it's no real concern to me.(Original post by Some random guy)

The xbox version offers some features I like, such as split screen multiplayer (if you have a HD enabled TV) that I really like the prospect of, and if it's on my console it's a bit more accessible for me.
That said, the PC version is supposed to be a little cheaper and I am looking for a decent game to play on my laptop.
I'm not trying to be snarky or anything, I just get tired of people having a go at others for their gaming choices. -

Re: Minecraft for Xbox 360I know, and I wasn't saying trying to accuse you of it, I just get a bit defensive about things like this. I should have made that clearer.(Original post by Some random guy)

Re: Minecraft for Xbox 360
Great game but I won't be getting it on 360. Me and 3 of my friends bought on PC 16 months ago or so
Made all sorts from underwater domes, Colosseum replicas, castles, sky castles, archery towers, roller-coasters, woollen sculptures of different pokemon and tonnes of other things I've forgotten - always oozing with fun. Finally got bored a few months back but we've all recently got back into it with help from the Hack/Mine and Technik mods.

Re: Minecraft for Xbox 360That's happened to me a couple of times before too. From what I've read apparently monsters can spawn in your room at night? Got something to do with if your bed is built next to a wall.(Original post by Luke0011)
I've got a house, its got windows, torches, and it's completely blocked off, no gaps or anything
But when i try to sleep in my bed I still get attacked! Whyyyyyyy! -
Re: Minecraft for Xbox 360That might be fun!
Ah, i'll move my bed then! thanks.(Original post by oElectronic)
