    Good downhill bike?
    Hi,

I have been a keen cyclist for a number of years now, but recently a friend introduced me to downhill racing. So, I was wondering: what is a decent but affordable-ish (£1000>) bike?

Any ideas would be great as I am not really sure where to start!

    Cheers,

    Muppet Science

I'd also invest in an Uphill bike too, because without one, your Downhill bike will be pointless - or you can only use it once - if you live on a slope.

Try a Giant Glory DH. A mate has one as he competes in downhill competitions and he has had much success on it.

If you want a full suspension downhill bike you're going to be looking at second hand bikes at that price. Best bet is to get on Pinkbike or maybe Southern Downhill or Descent World.

Do you want to ride other trails as well or just downhill?

Look for a specialized big hit. I raced and got decent results at the BDS on one before I bought a Glory.

Probably favouring trails but at that price I know I'm not going to be getting a beast of a bike lol.
