If Labour really dis nothing wrong and all he problems were caused by the global rece
Then why aren't we like Germany, Switzerland or Canada?
Why in 2009 was our deficit only beaten by Ireland and Greece?
Why was our deficit 13.5%
Why in 2008 was our deficit beaten only by Ireland?
Why were we about to lose our AAA rating?
Why did the value of the pound against the dollar drop from 2.10 to 1.40 in the space of half a year, despite America also being one of the worst economies in the recession?
Why did our inflation get so high relative to other countries?
Why did Labour run a deficit during a boom?
Why didn't they "save up for a rainy day"?
Why did they claim to have ended Tory boom and bust, yet now we are in the largest bust in generations?
Why did they waste tax payers money on wars?
Why do they champion the cause of equality and the poor, yet after 13 years of Labour Britain has the lowest social mobility in the developed world?
Why is it that the last time Labour were in power before Blair/Brown, Britain became known as the sick man of Europe and required an IMF bailout?
Why did Britain become one of the strongest economies in Europe after 20 years of conservatives?
Why did Labour ruin it again? -
Re: If Labour really dis nothing wrong and all he problems were caused by the global
I'm haven't really studied up on economics, but I'm pretty sure we're a vastly different country compared to Germany, Switzerland and Canada. For example we're much more reliant on financial services than Germany and Canada, and on manufacturing, Germany is way ahead us and therefore export way more than we do.

Excuse my typos in the title..

Re: If Labour really dis nothing wrong and all he problems were caused by the globalWrong. We have comparable economic sector compositions to Switzerland and Canada.(Original post by internet tough guy)

Re: If Labour really dis nothing wrong and all he problems were caused by the globalI'm not into politics and all these but I can say, hopefully........... they admit their wrongdoings and came back to fix it.(Original post by Electronica)
Agreed, Labour are to blame for the state the country is in. Yet people still vote for them?
Though they can't fix the wrongs that has already occurred but rather to improve the state and conditions than it currently is.
I think that what many people HOPE.. -
Re: If Labour really dis nothing wrong and all he problems were caused by the global
Every country in the west suffered from the recession, it was down to the actions during the "boom" years that determine what the conditions will be like in a recovery.
There is NO denying labour overspent (on a myriad of stuff), racked up debts by borrowing too much (and the tories are carrying that flame on), and built up a big deficit. We are feeling the inevitable results, austerity. -
Re: If Labour really dis nothing wrong and all he problems were caused by the global
Britain has nothing to fall back on, as someone else said the other countries that did well were producers. Britain only earns from the service industry and even that is getting tight. We need to produce our own goods and stop being so reliant on other countries.

Re: If Labour really dis nothing wrong and all he problems were caused by the globalwhat about germany?(Original post by Sdiff)
Wrong. We have comparable economic sector compositions to Switzerland and Canada. -
Re: If Labour really dis nothing wrong and all he problems were caused by the globalNo, as mentioned before the UK has a similar economic sector composition as Switzerland and Canada. Not that it matters: Services can be exported just as goods can.(Original post by Bey Taco)

Re: If Labour really dis nothing wrong and all he problems were caused by the globalI think it's about 22% vs 27% (them being 27%) of total economies. Not a huge difference and not overly relevant.(Original post by internet tough guy)
what about germany? -
Re: If Labour really dis nothing wrong and all he problems were caused by the globalAh, that's a line I have heard before. And it is entirely false. Well, almost. The tories in fact voted for all such nationalisations, apart from that of Northern Rock (and I think they had a pretty darn good reason for that, too).(Original post by Lorem Ipsum)
The Conservative line in 2008 was to not bail out the banks. Labour screwed it up, but the Tories weren't much, and still aren't much, better with their reaction.
Yes, criticize the Tory party. But for the sake of debate, keep that to what they actually did. They may be tories but they are also one of the centrist parties, and as such they aren't actually that diametrically opposed to Labour's economic policies (well, at least not nearly as much as either party will have you believe). -
Re: If Labour really dis nothing wrong and all he problems were caused by the globalAh, but why don't people just put their faith in a newer party with similar ideals to the Labour party? Or am I to assume that our voting system is at fault here...(Original post by fourdigit)

Re: If Labour really dis nothing wrong and all he problems were caused by the globalAs you seem to suggest, in the second paragraph, it doesn't really matter, they're all the same. I can't remember who said it but I like this quote:(Original post by Bulbasaur)

"Don't vote, it just encourages the b*******".
Not the best source, but this is sort of what I was getting at anyway :P http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisf...-crisis-actionLast edited by Lorem Ipsum; 07-05-2012 at 00:41.
