Do you have to live in as a medical student at Oxford University for Medicine?

Thought you'd been signed by Oxford Town then

And this is relevant I suspect: http://www.admin.ox.ac.uk/examregs/0...IVERSITY.shtml

well at 80 miles a day you might want to consider the costs of fuel and extra time required to get to the university into account.

You'd have to contact your college I guess, but from reading on here it seems to be quite rigorously enforced. Bear in mind when you're a clinical a 40 mile commute could quickly become significantly greater depending where your hospital is and if you're doing on call or something do you really want a 60 mile drive home after a long shift?

Ask one of the current Oxford medics like Nexttime about the commute for clinicals. In terms of the residency requirement you'd be best contacting your college and maybe post in the Oxford forum (because this isn't a medicine specific thing) and see if anyone has any experience.

    Not sure if serious or...:hmmmm:

I assume you'll be 18 and not 12 when you start uni, so what's so frightening about doing your own shopping or paying for your own accommodation (you'll get a loan btw!)?

You only get to be an undergrad once, with everything that entails

When I applied to uni, I deliberately didn't pick the one which was within a commutable distance from home, just so that it wouldn't be an option! You have to move out sometime, and you would miss out on SO much by living with your parents, even if it were allowed. Which it wouldn't be.

If I was not in the situation I am, I would reside if I ever get lucky enough to be given a place, (if only it was as simple as that), it's only my mum is not in the greatest of health and I would like to be as available as possible, I can understand your comments. Thank you
