Who woud you vote for in Greece?
So, if you were a Greek then who would you vote for in today's elections?
Edit: Sorry for mispelling, only just noticed... *Would
Edit: With Greece most likely facing yet another election, the good people of TSR have even longer to vote

Re: Who woud you vote for in Greece?Yeah I wasn't sure if people kept up with greek politics, I have been doing so for the past few months and, in all seriousness, I doubt Greece will do any better under the power of any of these parties.(Original post by Genocidal)
I don't know because I don't really know anything about Greek politics.
However, from an outsiders point of view I think I would probably abstain as it looks like all of them are going to end up making everybody's life a living hell in some way. -
Re: Who woud you vote for in Greece?
Against the established parties certainly - ND got Greece into the mess it is in, PASOK didn't even act when it had the power and majority to do so. Overall SYRIZA seems the most reasonable of the alternative parties and I am not surprised that they actually did well apparently.

Re: Who woud you vote for in Greece?
Greece is in the EU so why doesn't eveyone just pack up and move to a more prosperous part of Europe, legally nobody could stop them, they would have equal access to the jobs market and benefits.
EDIT: LOL the UK is now making contingency plans for this very prospect, suck on that people who negged me

Re: Who woud you vote for in Greece? They speak greek. Different language, even a different alphabet. They can't just pack up and go. Plus, they have no money to support themselves. Unemployment is also high elsewhere.(Original post by TheHansa)

Re: Who woud you vote for in Greece?Scandinavia has a great welfare state and most people aren't as abysmal as the British when it comes to learning a foreign language.(Original post by justmyopinions)

Re: Who woud you vote for in Greece? It's still enormously difficult for a 30 year old to leave his home country and move elsewhere. I am also not sure that you can collect welfare simply because you moved there.(Original post by TheHansa)

Rest assured that younger Greeks (18-25) are leaving the country in droves (especially the most skilled ones). -
Re: Who woud you vote for in Greece? For the same reason people in poor areas of any country don't just pack up and move to the rich areas.(Original post by TheHansa)

Re: Who woud you vote for in Greece?Their best results came in the Peloponnese and they had a few good ones in the area West of Athens. But they did relatively poorly in the big cities, contrary to the idea you might get from the media.(Original post by cl_steele)

Re: Who woud you vote for in Greece? The people of Greece are very keen, as they agree with the fact that deporting immigrants will mean more jobs for them.(Original post by muddywaters51)
golden dawn of course -
Re: Who woud you vote for in Greece?
The only way that Greece will genuinely get better is through harsh austerity measures. They can try and keep living in a bubble of artificially inflated living standards, but at some point that has to burst and the longer they prolong it, the harder they will fall. Although I can understand why parties other that ND and PASOK look attractive, they are the only two offering a realistic solution to Greece's problems, unless anyone can figure out a way of getting out of the euro, in which case, they can hyper-inflate, pay off their now tiny debts and then bring in a new currency, but good luck figuring that one out!

Re: Who woud you vote for in Greece? No, its basically seen as being retaliatory more than anything though yes there are increased numbers of disenchanted youths. Greece isn't a country to immediately blame immigrants outside of a few Albanian jokes.(Original post by justmyopinions)

Re: Who woud you vote for in Greece?
The Greek people have shown time and time again that they are going to keep biting the hand that gives them their billions of euros in bailouts. I'm sure that, yet again, they will vote against the austerity measures and i really hope that they crash and burn because of it like they deserve to. You can't borrow loads of money, they expect Germany, France and the rest of Europe to just pay the bill.
