Re: The EDL isn't racist, the BNP is....Oh my goodness, did I really just watch that? Do you think this man is registered to vote??? Lord help us if he is.
The sad thing is, I really tried to give him sympathy/laugh some more in the sense that maybe he accidentally came across this word 'muslamic' somewhere and thought it was real...unfortunately typing it into Google just gives results of him, and hilariously, muslamic ray guns. -

I understand the EDL attracts a lot of extremist racists because it is the most famous movement around. However, after listening to the head of the EDL on the radio, tommy robinson, I can see where he is coming from: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwIqQLSyO_k http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxs1jxQ5WnI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCzCEb1k__8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7y8ITzw-KI

The BNP on the other hand is a racist organisation whereas EDL is a peaceful movement which tries to stop the spread of sharia law.
Please correct me if I am wrong...I think that the EDL is just not racist....
North Korea's official name is the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and their website says that 'all the people are liberated from oppression'. In reality, the description couldn't be further from the truth.
Likewise, what the EDL say, and what they do, is a different case. They may say that they are peaceful, and aren't against muslims, but are against muslim extremists, but in reality, they are racist hooligans, who can't tell the difference between a brown, British christian and a white person, let alone a peaceful muslim and an extremist muslim. Everywhere they have gone to 'peacefully protest', (including Peterborough, where you say you live,) they have caused trouble, and there has been violence.
Such violent, racist attitudes should not be tolerated in society at all. -
Re: The EDL isn't racist, the BNP is....
Half the EDL members are on benefits, and have nothing better to do than be a part of the EDL. They don't even know what the EDL is about, but assume it's pretty much the same.
In my opinion most EDL members couldn't tell you the difference between EDL and BNP. -
Re: The EDL isn't racist, the BNP is....Tommy Robinson et al. were ex-BNP members. They claim they didn't know it was racist even though that's what it's famous for.(Original post by Taurus)

Re: The EDL isn't racist, the BNP is....youve obviously never been to an EDL rally? they are a bunch of lower class, mentally subnormal racists football hooligans who shame the great flag of this nation with their idiocy and fascist behavior. not to mention their vacab doesnt extend beyonf '**** off you dirty paki' they are without a doubt thoroughly unpleasant racist people led by pillocks. the BNP are little better but it must be granted their leader is anything but stupid a 2:1 from cambridge isnt exactly something to turn your nose up at whilst mr lennon/robinson are brain dead prats.(Original post by patrickinator)

Re: The EDL isn't racist, the BNP is....Have you only realised this now?(Original post by Drewski)
Your title makes it sound like it's impossible for more than one group to be racist at any one time... As if there's some special 'racism stick' that gets handed around that only one group can have at a time.
. Also, here's what I thought when I considered the "racism stick" being handed around. Sorta like this
P1 "We have taken used this stick wisely. Please treat it with respect"
P2 "I will take great care of this stick, and use it to promote my racism"
P1 "I now pass on to you, the sacred racism stick"
P1 then passes racism stick
P1 "I leave this racism stick in your command"
P2 "All hail the racism stick"Last edited by de_monies; 07-05-2012 at 01:34. -

Fair enough, I completely change my mind! The EDL certainly, on the ground, is a racist organisation. -
Re: The EDL isn't racist, the BNP is....What the hell has football got to do with the EDL?(Original post by Sir Digby Chicken)
The EDL might not be institutionally racist like the bnp (althought there are plenty of racists in the EDL), however they are certainly not peaceful. All the EDL are, is a new form of football 'casuals'. -

Re: The EDL isn't racist, the BNP is....
The best way to understand the relationship between the EDL and the BNP is that they are in one sense the inverse of each other. The core ideology of the BNP is racist, and their leaders come from a white power and national socialist tradition. But the BNP attracts as supporters and voters many ordinary 'daily mail' types who do not buy into the white power stuff, and may not even be aware of how central this is to the BNP. They don't identify as racist. They just see the BNP as 'the only people who speak up about islam/immigrants/erosion of british culture/etc' and don't bother much with the full ideology. The EDL is the other way around. It is these non-ideological types who are at the centre of the EDL, just wanting to do something to 'protect our culture,' and it is the ideological racists and white power types who form the periphery.
. Also, here's what I thought when I considered the "racism stick" being handed around. Sorta like this
