My take on the conservative attitude...
Ok folks, I wont pretend that I know vast amounts about politics and so on.

But would you agree with my take on the conservative attitude; namely as one which is:

set up to maintain the status quo by keeping those at the top there by getting their family and proceeding generations to assume positions of high status. At the same time, it keeps groups well 'beneath them' confined to roles which will ensure that their status at the top is not compromised or under threat. Everyone in the middle is essentially caught up between the two extremes. Thats the everyday folk.

    Discuss.

Edit: BTW Folks, I am talking about conservative 'attitudes' which also extends to parties other than just the Conservatives themselves.

Any conservative will turn round and say that they are entitled to inherit whatever their parents left them with. They will say they think about individualism and individual choices, decisions and effort to get them to whatever they want to live as. They see poorer people as having not made the effort to lift themselves out of poverty. They don't think about keeping people in poverty.

I'm glad you used a small C for conservative, because I think this applies to all political elites across the political spectrum.

So do labour, the tories and labour, if you look at the broad picture, are exactly the same in the areas you described, in fact, I think at bottom end, more people are kept there by labour policies.

I dont support labour either by the way, I wouldn't say I support any political party for that matter.

For what its worth, I am talking about 'conservative' attitudes, which may extend to policies and tendencies which labour and other parties also exhibit.
