    Income Assessment for maintenance grant
Really Confused... my family's income is much less than the applicable amount for a maintenance grant, but when I'm applying for student finance, there is no mention of making it income assessed, so could anyone guide me to where it shows it or where is that you can change the application to income assessed??

Have you followed the application all the way through?

From what i remember, you dont "check" or "click" something so that you become income assessed, it's just automatic.

Then at the end they will tell you what evidence they will need etc.

when ive gone through it there is nowhere where i can enter household income, and at the end there is no mention of maintenance grant or asking for any evidence.

ive tried using the support my application bit with my parents but it comes up saying that they arent linked to any students application

if this is normal, how can i stop this or at least link my parents to my application so they can go through this.

Have you put in their details and email etc in your bit of the application? If you have and its still not working its probably best to ring student finance and explain your problem :/

Make sure you have some time though because they kept me on hold for ages! Good luck

It would help if anyone knew if there were any details for the application that make assessed on household income.

on the support an application page it says that a student has to advise that my parents will be providing financial information in support.

is this something that i need to do, and if so, how can i?

I didn't have any problems doing it on mine. Read and understand everything and follow all the instructions and you can't go wrong.

I have finished the form and my applications for tuition fee loan and maintenance loan have gone through, but there is no mention of any income assessment or grant application, but everywhere says that you are assessed on this form??

You should have chosen to be income assessed earlier in the form.

You don't "apply" for a grant; if you choose to be income assessed you're automatically assessed for it.

if you are in any doubt, i suggest you ring them, and get it sorted out ASAP ,otherwise you'll just be stressing as you get closer and close to the time of when you need it.
