    So xsin3x ?? would your u be sin3x ?
No, it would be the algebraic expression.

Heyy are you gonna be doing the summary for vectors? Would be a great help! As I don't understand anyy of it.. Jus planning to leave that q out and focus on integration and other topics.. But i think i shud jus attempt them atleast Thank youu in advance!

    >>>>>>>>>VECTORS >>>>>>>>

i have made a small summary as promised and worked the jan 2012 question in detail ......

the note is no that effective but the should help those who are struggling really bad with vectors ......

    just remember .....

    >Matrix representation will cause less problems so first put your data in matrix form ......

    >draw a big clear diagram in the middle of the page so you can add anything more to it from the latter parts of the question

    > if they ask you to show a angle and your answer isn't right just subtract it from 180 to see if u'l get it

    >If ur not good in vector leave it for the end cause people tend to waste time on it if they are not thorough with the basics...

    >and approach the question with a positive can do attitude or u'l never get it

that's it people good luck with vectors and the rest of C4

    and hope this helps ur'l

FORGOT ONE MAJOR THING IF TWO VECTOR ARE PERPENDICULAR THEIR DOT PRODUCT IS ZERO

Did anyone else find the jan12 paper ridiculously easy compared to other papers?
I actually did that exam and found it terrible, hence why I'm re-taking. I was fine with all the knowledge it's the stress of the exam that gets me, I panic, make a stupid mistake, panic some more and it all goes down hill. I only seem to get this with C4 though, it's usually because I can't spot that little thing they want you to spot in order to make things simpler.

    I just came across:
    sin^2xcosx=sin^3x

Is this a formula we need to know?

How many years do you think the past paper questions in the mixed exercises of each chapter in the book cover? If I go through all of them do you guys think it's enough?

No, it would be the algebraic expression.
OK so you look at it and ask yourself
if its logs you dont choose it
if its algebra you dont choose it
if its trigs you dont choose it
if its E you dont choose it
the the other one must come first right ??

So if you had e^2 sin4x your your U would be e^2 ? and DV/DX would be sin4x right?

e^2 is a constant, you won't need to substitute there

For substitution, it's best to take a quick look to see if what you're substituting will make the next integral easier.

Good luck to all those sitting the exam!

I don't get how people can find C3 harder than this beast. I see how some exam papers are easier than C3 ones, but the content itself?!

Why is it that when we need to find the integral of 2/(x-1) we use the lformat but to find the integral of 1/(x-1) we use to other rule of adding the power and dividing by it?

Can someone please answer this question? It's a relatively easy one but I'm missing something...

    here is it:

Use integration by parts to find
    ∫ (x^2)sin x dx.

    Thank you!!

I did the exam too I found it quite hard Probably because I went into the exam with barley any knowledge of the module at all because I was concentrating on C3

    I would use the compound angle formula for cosine: cos^2x = cos2x / 2+ 1/2

But I've memorised all of the basic integrals just in case
