Re: OCR Psychology G544 June 18th 2012They used Freudian interviews to see if prisoners had different thinking patterns. It's a major criticism of their study because it turned out afterwards that most of the prisoners were lying in hope of getting a more lenient sentence if they showed they were more remorseful.(Original post by AlexandraRose)
Could someone briefly explain Yochelson and Samenow for psychodymanic?
I only have Freud and I can't find decent notes on the study anywhere
Thanks!

Re: OCR Psychology G544 June 18th 2012Apparently on the exam feedback they say you should do aim, procedure, results then link the conclusion to how it related to that approach(Original post by ellasmith)
Does anyone know how much info we should include in the description of the studies in section B? I'm worried i'm being too brief.
Does anyone know if strengths and weaknesses for cognitive would bebetter as
useful, free will, lacks validity as self report, reductionist
or
useful, scientific, reductionist and lacks ecological validity -
Re: OCR Psychology G544 June 18th 2012
i know this sounds pretty stupid, but how do you revise for this exam? :s
i can do section b, thats not a problem so much
but section a for the practical project, im thinking of getting model answers and seeing how the different in the way there written and making sure i do plenty of past papers so i know how to write a study for each technique, do you think that will be okay?
Also the methods that could be given is it just self report, correlation, observation, experiment and case study?
also i havent got a case study model answer can someone tell me how it would differ?
please help! i moved schools and i did AQA for as and now im doing a2 ocr :/ -

Re: OCR Psychology G544 June 18th 2012I'm pretty sure case study isn't required in section A, I havn't been taught it anyway.(Original post by zahra_xo)

Strengths - Allows detail look at all components that affect behaviour.
Can be used to explain certain types of behaviours and disorders.
Open to testing.
Weaknesses- Over simplifies complex behaviour.
Breaks done complex phenomenon into simple explanations.
Doesn't take into consideration other factors affection experience.
I use Caspi, Bandura, Wilson & Daly, Piliavin and Milgram.
And Holism:
Strengths - Looks at everything that may impact behaviour.
Considers more than one cause.
Allows for detailed all round analysis.
Weaknesses - Does not allow for detailed study into one area.
Non-scientific.
Doesn't explain mental illness.
Over complicates behaviour that may have simple explanation.
Lots of data to anaylse.
And I use Thigpen + C and Reicher and Haslam.

Re: OCR Psychology G544 June 18th 2012Thank you sosososo much! I really appreciate it, do you have any holistic studies and their explanations? I know Farrington, Thigpen are holistic but i cant find information on holah about how the different factors concluded their behaviour?! xx(Original post by AlexandraRose)

Re: OCR Psychology G544 June 18th 2012
Just wanted to remind you guys of what was in the January exam as I know you can't get this on the OCR website..
Section A was a correlation.
Section B:
Option 1 - Social approach, and ethnocentrism within it.
Option 2 - Experimental method, can psychology be considered a science.
Hope this helps a bit
Thanks!
