Oh God I was stressing about having no space to write throughout the exam and because time was such an issue, I didn't consider that I could use extra paper
I just wrote so tiny haha, and used the whole of the back page. I didnt have time to put my hand up and ask for another sheet, I nearly ran out of time! :/

I really liked this paper !..was expecting the perspectives and observation to come but still I think I did better !..for the determinism/free will question, I somehow linked it to the locus of control ..saying how free will shows internal locus of control and determinism shows external, and then went on to say how some of the studies relate to each of them , used A2 studies aswell! And also obviously defined them aswell
For section A , I did the music one, and I finished early so went on to talk about how we can work out the mean and show it on a bar chart , which I drew aswell on extra paper!..I looked at the effect of rock music and classical music , so yeah...:P

thank you so so much, ill loose 3 (first question) + 6 then
omg such a relief to think ive lost only 9.
If grade boundaries are low itll make my chances of getting a good grade even more i guess :/

    youre such a life saver!!

I ran out of time  which was so annoying because the exam wasn't that bad though I was kind of surprised that the cognitive approach came up. Spent 10 minutes too long on Section A because I spent too much time thinking about what to write instead of actually writing and I only filled half the lines on the last question on determinism and free will on Section B; my other answers on that section were also a bit crappy because I was so rushed. =/

Does it matter if my procedure is slightly unethical? I chose the effect of noise on the ability to do crossword puzzles and said that a cover story would be used to prevent them guessing the aim of the study but I addressed this issue in the de-brief and also in the question asking how you would address 1 ethical issue in your study.

Also, does anyone know what the grade boundaries for this paper are like? I'm too scared to look myself.

Argh... I know at least 2 questions where I messed up. Didn't even get to finish the 8e question because I ran out of time, I literally only had one paragraph explaining what determinism and free-will were... And the probability one I'm pretty sure I messed up, I think I've got it confused and thought a 5% probability chance (I put 1/20 >_>) meant I should retain the null hypothesis, which I'm pretty sure is wrong.

Assuming everything else was fine, I don't think I failed completely, but have totally knocked confidence now.
Same.....well, except I did even worse - I only had one line saying what free will was and 1 or 2 examples of how different approaches would explain aggression for determinism. Didn't even use any psychological studies to illustrate my points.

can you have a look at one of the past papers mark schemes for me? ive looked and i cant make sense of it . i would realllly appreciate it

ive been crying so much :'(

    xxxxxx
Heyy don't cry! Yes I can have a look at them for you, can you just send me a link to one of them please?

Seriously though, in class when we were asked to design a self report-i ended up doing a experiment and my teacher said this to me. I didn't even write that much and got a B overall in the section A.

To stop you crying I shall write up the short one that I am talking about so you can see chin up !

    1) Are people in grammar schools more anxious about their exams compared to people in public/ government funded schools? I got 3/3 for this as this was just asking about the reserach question

    2) The aim of my study of my study is to see if there is a difference in the level of anxiety between private and public schools. I will be using a self report method of questionnaires

    OMGGG LOOOOOOOOOOL
I am sooo stupid, I just realised I already have this typed up LOL
:awesome: Inbox me your email address and I shall email it to you !! LOL

( really did not want to erase my above efforts )

    xxxxxxxxxx

Was quite good for time here. I used many studies for section B.

On part b) I used Loftus & Palmer (study 1) and Griffiths; part c) Bandura, Asch, Samuel & Bryant, and Milgram; part d) Asch, Gudjonsson, Milgram, and Freud; part e) Farrington and McGrath.

Found e) to be very easy because I revised that question the night before! I said how longitudinal designs were useful due to the ability to study mental disorders at length (systematic desensitisation requires this design), and factored in behaviourism and how the laws of learning are useful to longitudinal studies. Then said that Farrington's study is also useful because he studied delinquent development, which contributed buckets to how we can apply preventative measures to 13 year-olds (he found that, at this age, if someone commits crime, there is an increased chance of re-offending).

Section a)... the jury's out. I did the noise interference on the effect of crossword puzzle performance. I was dreading it with my life but I had also practised that question in class before. I matched the participants (self-selected sample of 30 (15M, 15F)) on cognitive ability with a spot-the-difference puzzle and then split them into two conditions, one where music practise was being done in the adjacent room and the other where the participants where guided away from the room to a second room out of earshot of condition 1's adjacent music room, where the crossword was conducted in silence.

I felt it went quite well actually. :O

I thought section B was quite straightforward, probably because I revised the cognitive approach inside out. The small questions in section A were a bitch though... got the significance ones wrong I think. Hopefully my procedure was half decent. Need 80 UMS on this exam for an A* soooo I'm praying!

Oh wow, that's lower than I had expected. Was this seen as a particularly difficult paper then?

Sorry I was looking at B's. 63-67ish will get you an A

72+ Id say, there abouts. Sorry for the confusion!

Im not sure, to be honest I think the difficulty stays reasonably the same because the exam format is the exact same just with a different hypothesis for Section A and a different combination of approaches/methods in Section B.

    Over the past 4 papers:
    68, 63, 60 and 65 got you an A

    62, 57, 54 and 59 got you a B

So the grade boundaries do seem to vary a significant amount!

Wait, have the official grade boundaries already been released? I thought they published grade boundaries after all of the papers had been marked and they can see how well/badly people did, and THEN establish whether they should be lower/higher?

i got for the p<0.05 that means a strong negative correlation and to therefore reject the null hypothesis, is this right/ did anyone else get this? i do stats as part of my maths a level so i was pretty sure but everyone else seems to have got different

Nope just assumptions based on what past paper grade bounderies were.

I just put that the results are significant at the 5% level, which is acceptable for psychological research. I dont think you can tell if its positive or negative?

Then for the next question I said you can reject the null hypothesis as results of 95 people out of 100 would differ between the 2 conditions by a significant amount.. words to that effect anyway

    Is that right?
